So within the next few days I’ll be between 20-25 CP depending on my placement in the Spidey and DD events and the mysterious member of my alliance who gives me CP every 2-3 days.
So should I save it for some unknown point in time when I actually need it or immediately go for a token? I’m tempted to just go for a 25cp token, cuz first time I ever did o got a 5* Spidey blue.

It’s impossible to say for sure without knowing more about your roster and where you are as a player.
I’m general, the best strategy in this game is often to save non-perishable resources unless:
(1) there is a clear benefit to using the resources now as opposed to later (e.g. using an active vault to increase your odds, rather than a post-event vault that resets after each pull); and
(2) the benefit outweighs the risks of a bad outcome.
So if you are still working on your 2* or 3* roster, then the scaling consequences of a 5* would be signifcant. But if you are deep into your 4* transition then 5*s won’t have a scaling downside.
Personally I am buying classic tokens as I get the cp right now. But I am well into the 4* transition, and have a 0/1/0 OML. So my priority is getting more oml covers before his odds dilute in a month or two. I also champed a bunch of mid-tier 3*s the last day before oml left the regular LT pool for the same reason. But oml is not in regular LTs right now, so I am stockpiling those for the moment.
Classic. You’ll feel so much better that you wasted only 20 CP when you get your 10th IW green cover.
