I hear a lot about 3* land not having a StormNeto, so what are the best possible teams? I guess it could be split into different categories.
“A team” for tackling the most difficult nodes
Sustain team for quickly grinding easier nodes
Characters
Goon only
Goons+Characters
I’ve heard a lot of Blade+Daken, Mags+Mystique and Patch+Stormneto. Just curious what everyones approach is to events and what I should look to prioritize.
3* land version of StormNeto is currently the Magstique combo, though I guess that’s more pseudo 3*.
Actually, LCap fits really well in all of those categories. He’s probably THE best overall PvE-oriented hero. I personally pair him with single-yellow IM40 for the all-goon nodes and try to accelerate red as fast as possible, followed by endless shield throwing.
Your sustain team can actually just be your old 2* teams, so no problem there.
Its not quick, but against goons of any level using 2* Mags/Storm/Widow means I never get hit. Mags purple can take out timers by destroying lines and add blue to storm so they’re never out of stun. Widow is just there to get blue and purple ap quicker. Mags red and Strom green are good for building up ap as well.
Some of my favorites:
Steve Rogers - Hood (preferably with XForce, but we’ll keep it to 3*)
Blade-Daken-Falcon
Patch-Daredevil-Panther
Mystique-mMags-Any yellow/black user, even better if you throw an Ares TU in there.
What do you guys do when a node you want to Magstique has a bullseye? Do something else, or try to muddle through all the enemy protect tiles you end up generating?
I use some combo of blade / ldaken / falcon with torch (or punisher, or lthor now) all day every day for all situations in PvE (especially against goons) until the nodes get difficult or require a tailored sollution. Or just blade ldaken and falcon all together. It’s not optimal as you don’t have anyone who uses green AP or red AP, but you also don’t have some one who uses red AP matching red.
In 3* land there just isnt a duo that synergizes the same way as Stormneto. Part of that is because Hood helps everyone, although some more so than others. Another part is that in 3* world you need to better cover the rainbow as some of the focus shifts to denial since things hit so hard. The best synergy after Stormneto is actually XF…with XF. If the opps strongest color is green, SS into XF is a seriously wicked combo.
I don’t have a working Mystique to do that, but when I do have purple user like my StormNeto or any essential purple user… I usually try to keep moving that protect tile around. If there’s a lot of purple on the board, I’ll make the first purple match and hope the protect tile lands near another potential match, then I match it away, so that it basically moves to a different spot on the board. I try to control the number of protect tiles from bullseye as much as possible. If I don’t, the AI might leave it and match a different purple and now you have 2 protect tiles to deal with, rather than taking the purple and moving the tile to the other set that the AI then might match, and if he doesn’t, I do. If I lose control of the tiles, i try to get 2 protect tiles to line up so I can take two out and only generate 1.
I usually do magstique+xf and I ignore the protect tiles. The protect tiles only really affect some early match damage, and once magstique gets rolling, it’s really irrelevant. Usually xf clears them up quickly enough, and bullseye is almost always the first target I down.
I came back to mention Patch Daken Blade. It’s a great combo, it served me well for Goon/Hero/Hero because you can’t deny ap generated that fast so having Patch and Daken absorb it is the only answer to the damage they generate. It also has the benefit of being rainbow with active abilities in all colors save yellow. It’s infinitely sustainable because the healers tank all the colors, and the only damage blade takes is from AOE.
It’s become my go to team for anything other than super high level nodes that can one shot them.
I only really used that combo during Simulator, but I’d imagine you either just to tough it out and target him first, or just use a different combination that isn’t reliant on purple.
Another alternative is bring Loki as the 3rd. With all the black generated, just flip the tiles as they generate for a temporary strike bonus.
4Thor, XForce, Hood/Loki is best for tough nodes but if we’re strictly talking about 3* then Hood/Loki with 2 damage dealers. As to which one, depends on the opponent. There are a lot more options in 3* land than 2* land so I might use captain marvel vs Bullseye nodes (or CMags fed by a Don
) but not against just about anything else.
For me Laken, Blade, Falcon. It’s quick, has sustain thanks to Daken and heals up well between clears.
Loads of options (see 1 above) but i’ve been liking Luke Cage recently because he bounces a lot of damage. SO Luke Cage, Xforce (quick damage), Loki (to safeguard vs enemy cascades).
Depends on level. Lower level is Laken, Blade, Falcon. Higher level Laken, Xforce, Falcon.
If overly scaled then Xforce, 4Thor, Hood (bit better than Loki because the AP is coming in constantly in multiple colours rather than only being an issue with 4/5 matches where Loki excels). Otherwise depends on the node again.
I don’t use winfinite a lot (Mags, Mystique, Xforce/BP) for no particularly good reason
. I guess the main reason is it can be slow if you don’t boost and the board is being at all awkward and, for me, saving ISO and getting through the nodes quickly is more of a priority.
When scaling gets too high, you’ve really got to work on your AP denial game, particularly Yellow and Green with Ares. After you’ve farmed the Greens, a Nightstalker tile helps keep the AI’s green manageable if Ares is still alive.
My new favorite I’ve been trying out in Thick as Thieves is:
accelerates
, which lets you stun and gets charged tiles out. That accelerates
for Smite, and
for Recharge, which then accelerates
and
. From there you can’t really lose.
If you boost
and
, it goes even faster. I’ve had rounds where the AI only gets 2 or 3 turns. Also, if you keep 4* Thor at 221 or lower, then a maxed IM40 will also tank all colors for her. Since she’s the key to winning, that’s a very good thing in case you get a bad board.
For those without a workable Blade Punisher also hides nicely behind Patch ‘N’ Son you lose some damage potential and don’t have Purple on the rainbow but the cheap AOE Black mostly makes up for it.
They can actually usually deal with anything up to about lvl 200 without too much trouble. Ares can be a pain but as long as you’re careful it’s still pretty safe. You only really run into trouble on the Here/Goon/Goon nodes where Rags/Juggs/whoever is using a move every other turn.
In the current PvE sub, the Ares is lv291 and he’s being fed green. So yeah, scaling is already beyond “too crazy”, and AP denial isn’t an option. Patch/Daken would be gone very quickly.
