I have a question and want to be 100% sure before I make any “rash” decisions. As of right now, posting this message, if I was to purchase the Heroic 40 pack, I WOULD NOT have a chance at getting Pro. X, correct? I don’t see him in the list of characters and I assume I can’t get him, but I wanted to make completely sure before doing anything. So that leads to my next question, if he can’t be gotten out of the heroic pack, right now, should I chance going for him in the Mind Games pack, spending a few thousand more Hero Points AND not having the opportunity to receive any other 4
characters (mainly Thor)? Or should I wait until he IS available in the Heroic pack? If I could get some answers and advice from anyone, that would be so much appreciated! Thanks,
40-packs are the biggest ripoff this game has to offer. Do yourself a favor, stay far far away from them. Your odds of getting anything decent are still minuscule.
Honestly just stock up tokens & you get a slim chance of obtaining him. I manage to get Wolverine, Nick Fury & Star-Lord this way. If you don’t mind spending HP, you could get the daily heroic pack for 100HP (obviously when they add Prof X 1st).
Yes, I know buying packs are no go, but if the TC really want to spend on packs, daily heroic isn’t that bad if you don’t mind blindingly receive
covers. I’ve kept tabs & so far each time I receive

& so far it costs less than buying covers outright. Not saying EVERYONE should do this but a mere lesser of evil options if you really itching to spend your hard earned
My advice is like I mentioned in my previous post is stockpile tokens & use
for roster slots.
Unless you’re willing to blow a few thousand bucks on cover packs, chances are you won’t unlock all three professor X colors. If you want to take a gamble, buy 1 Mind Games token at the discounted price. 2.3% chance (if I remember correctly) and that’s pretty decent odds for a new character pull.
I managed to get the purple cover from the pve event for top 50 placement, got a blue cover from the event token, and got the last yellow color from one of those 3 complementary tokens from D3. yeah, I was lucky and if you save your tokens until Xavier is added to the draw then you might get lucky too.
As other posters have pointed out, the worst way to spend your money is on the 40 cover pack. Just buy 1 cover for like 200 hp if you need to scratch that urge. But otherwise don’t bother. Sooner or later, Prof X will be added as a reward cover in another event, or in a heroic token.
You’d have to be literally just starting the 3* transition, willing to accept covers like 3* Storm as “worth 2500”, and have enough roster space for your brand new stable of 3*s. Given that this situation applies to almost none peoples, buying cover packs isn’t worth it. Add the fact that 1 guy with 13 covers is worth a lot more than 13 guys with 1 cover and… yeah. Just don’t do it.
The only reason TO buy cover packs is if you want to then max any resulting hero and you don’t have the cover for him, thus don’t have the ability to buy covers for him. If you were looking to drop 200 bucks on this game for a 13 cover Prof X, buying the 42 from his PvP (where his drop rate is 3.2%) isn’t the WORST idea. There is only a 25% chance that your 100 dollars in hero points is totally wasted and you get 0 Prof X covers (75% chance of at least 1 in 42 pulls). Of course then you have to get all 3 colors, and that % useless rises by a steep margin. So yea, just don’t do it. It’s not even a good idea in this circumstance.
Oh my god, do NOT buy a 40-pack! Don’t do it, ever. Ever ever. Like never ever. Not unless you like to feel totally ripped off. If you don’t believe me, or literally everyone else posting in this thread, just do a search here for threads of people who have. What you will surely see are tales of woe. Like people buying multiple 40-packs and getting ZERO 3* covers, let alone a 4* cover. Get your covers some other way, man.
Nope, never buy packs…period. I bought one at the beginning and got 3 new chars, so that was nice. Then optd to buy a DPD 10-pack and got zero 3*. The only way I’d buy one again is if they significantly upped the chances. Hell, if you are dropping 20 bucks for a pack, have all 10 be 3*+. They would sell a lot to new players and ppl transitioning
Pretty sure this is why they hesitate to post a direct link to the forum in game. Someone asks a question A, or B and the resounding answer is OMG NO dont do that. It would not be a sound business decision for the entire player base to be told the many reasons coverpacks are a bad investment.
You are probably right, but if they actually did and people learned what a horrible deal they were maybe, just maybe D3 would adjust the percentages and lower the price so they were actually worth thinking about. The 80%+ chance of 2 star covers is just insulting at that price.
If/when there are enough 4s to justify a “super heroic” token with an 80% chance of drawing 3s 20% 4* and if that 42 pack cost the same, then I might consider buying one. Those tokens of course will probably never exist and definitely not cost the same.
If you drive a Bentley Continental and tip everyone you see a C-note “just because”… sure, go ahead and buy some 40-packs.
Otherwise, save your HP. The only situation – and I mean really the only one – where buying a 40-pack MIGHT be worthwhile is if you are fairly new to the game and want to quickly build up a fairly deep 2* roster. But even then, unless you’re sitting on an abnormally large stash of ISO, it’s not going to help you, because you wouldn’t be able to level all those 2*s.
