After a few matches, 5* Spider-Gwen deals only 1 damage per tile, sometimes already in turn 2.

Read her Black Power:

(PASSIVE) If Gwen’s team has 10 or more total AP, Gwen’s match damage is reduced to zero while she fights to maintain control, but ability damage is increased by 25%.

Oops, ok, but then the other way around: why is there still match damage? 1 is not zero.

Match damage is never allowed to reach 0. Even if you have a strength 1 million protect tile you will always take 1 match damage.

That’s to prevent the game from getting into an infinite loop that can’t be finished.
