6k thread

Hi all!

I just want to tell you all how it was. A small group of 6 people decided to go no limits… Well at first 4k was in mind, but after last pvp it shifted to 5k at least.
We left all alliances, picked not very popular shard and started hopping. We are very sorry for hitting guys on our way to 900, but after that only hops between us. We are all from different parts of world and could hop really non stop. Catching up after sleep was very easy and fast. Almost no snips first 1,5 day… But then?
We thank everyone who asked before hitting and really don’t understand those who sniped on purpose? Jealous or something else?

Some questions I heard
Why did we push so high? - why not? We could do it and did it.
Are we crazy nerds? - maybe slightly more as you guys, who read this
Who much? - less then stark salary:)
When did you plan it? - last week, so it has almost nothing to do with pushes on previous pvp. Just shifted the motivation
Is 7k real? - yes, but need more organization and coordination.

Thank you all and hope we did not upset you!

And some results:

SiXtynine 6108
Mr Maestro 6103
franckynight 6060
PUERTO RICO 6018
Viral Core 6003

Was the speed at which you had to complete matches any sort of factor to score that high?

Yes. It would be impossible to score that high with featured eg hulk or spidey.

Grats to those who did it. It was a lot of time, money, and effort to get there. I agree with Maestro, why not if you’re willing..

That being said, I for one don’t want to see shielding changed, but this makes arguing for it to stay the same a MUCH harder argument. It also highlights the serious issue of time sharding in it’s current state, and how it can be exploited by a few.

Congratulations to the six people pulling off this crazy feat. 6000 points is incredible in comparison to where top scores were when I started.

This is a compelling points, but more than that, it makes me wonder what the guys behind this stunt think about the shield changes.

I am not sure I agree with this sentiment. It’s great that they decided to do it, planned, coordinated, and accomplished their chosen task. But There is basically no value to this accomplishment for anyone but d3p. None of these players got anything from their highscores above 1300 (their placement rewards aren’t really implicated because these 6 would have placed very well with 1300-1500 points anyway). So players spent a whole lot of money on bragging rights and nothing else. d3p made a whole lot of money for nothing, no new content, no extra rewards given, nothing.

I just think this is consumers sending the wrong message to publishers. This is consumers telling publishers that all they can make very large sums of money off a small percentage of players simply by creating a system where real money can be spent ad infinitum for nothing more than a meaningless leaderboard.

Note: I am not criticizing spending in general, or any whales that choose to spend lots of money on this game. That is a perfectly reasonable individual choice. I am just suggesting that when spending money, consumers should consider what the effect of that money will be. When you spend money to achieve something (like a 4* reward or equivalent) you are telling the developers that you value that digital good and will pay to acquire it. When you spend money for no quantifiable benefit, you are telling the devs that they don’t actually have to do anything except provide more and more opportunities to spend, without actually producing any more digital content. It’s bad for f2p players, and its bad for paying players too.

so grats to these players for their logistical feat, but please, please stop (and when you stop, tell d3p that you won’t start spending again until they provide some incentive for you to do so).

It should also be noted that this would have been impossible without time sharding.

Me PR Knox Freeze and GD tried to do 3k pre time shards and we couldn’t quite get it done. There were simply too many people hitting you to go out more often than every 20 minutes or to hit more than one person per hop. Since we started so early and had extreme high scores compared to the rest of the field I believe we went from 1300-2700 mostly hitting 25 pts per hop. What a grind that was.

I only went to 5k and as stated before i didn’t do all the early work that the 6 that ended up with 6k did… But most everyone was hitting 2-3 people at a time all the way to 6k. Doing that pre-time shards would have resulted in a -50 or worse every time.

I believe the entire PvP i was only sniped 2-3 times and for all I know those were incidental. In the “old days” I’d get 15 post-shield hits on me every single time I went out. Whereas with time shards now there were times I’d do a shield hop and wait 10 minutes and not have a single hit on my shields.

My point is that the developers decision to create time shards allowed for the ridiculous scores. The first time I got 2000 then 2500 then 2700 felt almost impossible to obtain as you would get hit so often by other players. Required you to essentially play the entire PvP every 20-30 minutes at 25 pts per hop.

Time shards can bite my shiny metal azz! Worst change to the game ever. PvE just as bad since you can’t be smart about which PvE sub you join.

About the guys hitting the 6k scores, thanks for doing it. It was fun having all 50 point nodes to hop with instead of the standard 18 point time shard nodes. The BC was a lot of fun also!

I’m actually enjoying the time slices, because joining a quiet slice is like a time machine to the game a year ago. It’s quieter and less cutthroat.

That’s exactly my point WR. Due to time sharding, you’ve essentially weeded out anyone with a roster capable of hitting max fury/thora teams. So in a world without getting hit, the sky is the limit.

I was a participant in this quest; albeit an unwilling one! icon_e_smile.gif
I remember getting demolished by SiXtynine 6108, looking at the retal (max Lady Thor, max X-Force I think) then hitting skip.

I have no problem with anyone shooting for these high scores - I never get more than ~700 points/one star.png

cover because I play like 90% of players - casually - one push, then shield.
Thus, there’s no way we’re in competition and the rubber-banding is such a help.
So: nice work guys! - and thank you (from the rest of the player base - whether they realise it or not)

I personally owe Puertorico, Viral Core, and SiXtynine a debt of gratitude. Because of their hard work and dedication, The Defenders finished top 10 in Category-5 - something we’ve never come close to before.

While watching this happen, I commented that it felt like I was sitting at the Moon landing on TV. (Obviously it’s a different scale, but it works for an analogy.) Not being a true “hopper” myself, I felt so small sitting on the Earth. I think it was a remarkable feat and interesting to see for far things can go beyond the developer’s expectations.

People asked, who will remember this when 7000, 8000, or more are reached? Well, if that does happen, they have this event to look to for inspiration. Will the world forget Neil Armstrong once man lands on Mars and beyond?

And for the people still questioning WHY do this, and “because we can” doesn’t suffice; I would ask those who scored 2000, 3000, 4000, and more why they continued pushing so hard after seeing 6000 points had been reached? That seems silly to me.

I have scored with the best of them, been sniped by the worst of them, and been in the deadly 2k+ for top 10 bracket. I have been in numerous pvps, many seasons, countless hops, shields, and boost.

This pvp was by far my greatest of all pvps. It’s not just because we reached the unthinkable of 6k, but because 6 people who never grouped together as a team before. Decided to pair up and do what we so called “whales” like to do, and that’s to score high and have fun doing it. While 6k is a great achievement and solidified 1st place for us in our season brackets. I am more astonished that I had more fun in 2.5 days with franckynight, Mr Maestro, shamsali, Viral Core, and SiXtynine. Then I have with any other larger group or alliance in any season.

Not that I will be aiming for 7k this pvp, but if I was and had to pick a group of people to get their with. I definitely wouldn’t leave any one of those guys out. I thank and applaude them for that experience. The late nights and early mornings. Enjoyed every minute of it. I play this game to have fun that’s exactly what happened. Thank you

Congrats Mr. icon_e_smile.gif
Hope you had fun smashing my brackets along with Simulism

I wanted to chime in the whole snipe issue. I’ve seen it a few times mentioned. I don’t think that there are a lot of people out here that are maliciously trying to ruin your plans. It seems like some of you are implying that we should skip you instead of attacking for that 50 point. Do you have another solution? The developers took away the ability for us to see if you have 2k or 6k without checking alliance scores. So +50 could be anything. Feel free to climb as high as you like but please don’t call us out for playing the game maliciously.

I’m going for 12,000. It won’t be easy, but if I can get 2,000 in sim, I should just break 12,000 for the season;)

Thanks for letting us watch. I hope it was as fun for you as it was for us. Typically, I don’t get high scoring, but with cool downs coming, I totally understood this one.

I wanted to say that I felt the same way as User when I read this. I think your plight to reach 6k was awesome, but I didn’t know you were doing it. Simply put, if you’re not in my alliance, and you’re a juicy 50-point target I’m always going to attack. I don’t consider it sniping; I consider it playing the game. Out of the thousands and thousands that play this game, I’m sure a very minute percentage even knew what you were attempting to achieve. Please don’t call attacks on you sniping, as almost all attacks were people playing the game as they should without malice.

Just to clarify… “Sniping” is just what it’s called. I think most people realize that its frequently not intentional.

Some players get more upset about it than others and some players are frankly hypocrites about it. (Aka you can’t snipe me but I can snipe others)

Its part of the game. But that’s what its called. When I say I was “sniped” 5 times in a PvP its not a complaint… I’m not bitter about it. It’s just an observation. I was only “sniped” a couple of times. If anything I was pointing out how much less frequently that happens now due to time shards.
