How come Shrine of the Forsaken Gods seems to respawn it’s activated gems back up to 3 every turn, but Shambling Vent doesn’t seem to bother respawning it’s 1 gem sometimes?
I’m sure there are other examples of cards which do or don’t respawn their gems, but those are the 2 I’m playing with currently.
Is this a bug, or are there some hidden rules behind it?
If your opponent destroys a gem then it doesn’t seem to respawn on your next turn, but instead appears the turn after that. If you activate it then it does reappear on your next turn.
Card with Activate will spawn gems at the beginning of your turn until the specified amount is met (per card), but the gems matched by your opponent will respawn one turn later.
Also, do activated gems have an expiration date? I used to notice a lot when playing with Jace’s Mind Sculpt (back when it created activated gems), and have noticed again recently with Liliana’s Grave Mist, that sometimes activated gems on the battle field have no effect when they are popped, and this always occurs when the gems have been on the battlefield for several turns.
Do gems go bad after a certain amount of time? Or is this a bug? It certainly takes away a lot of the power of Grave Mist, an ability which you have to get really lucky to get good value out of.
