This topic should be interesting. In updating my 5* rankings guide I put an appendix in with a list of all the affiliations and who belongs to each. In doing so I noticed that both Omega Red’s are missing the Weapon X affiliation, despite the 3* talking about his affiliation in the character bio! It made me think… what are the most egregiously absent affiliations? Conversely, who has affiliations they shouldn’t?
Just looking at the 5* tier…
Missing:
Omega Red- Weapon X
Deadpool- Mercenary (the 4* is also missing this despite referring to himself as “the merc with the mouth” in his bio!)
Cable- Time-displaced (isn’t that his whole deal?)
The Civil War ones were apparently based on an extremely close reading of the actual Civil War comic storyline – I guess Rescue didn’t factor into that (I read it but it was forever ago).
My favorite Civil War-related oddity is that 5* Doc Ock is Team Iron Man, somehow.
I mean it isn’t completely about this, but it’s still a topic that has been on my mind since I started PQ.
There are so many synergies that change and alter with time. Sometimes makes it a bit difficult to define certain synergies to specific characters. Like characters who are both heroes and villains or even tend to alternate a lot.
But regarding the actual post. Adam Warlock should probably have GOTG yeah? He has Avengers somehow though. Ronan isn’t human, yeah? So he should have Non-Human. Yondu has it so…And this one is just me. Shuma Gorath should really have Godlike. ( Yes I know it isn’t Shuma. )
This one was actually quite controversial! If I remember correctly, there was a thread on here complaining about spoilers, or not-spoilers, or something like that, with the movie.
3* Beast, 5* Iceman, Silver Surfer, Namor, Moondragon, 3* Hulk should all be Defenders. Namor and Hulk were there from issue #1! Technically Angel should too although both versions we have are weird ones especially depending on how you view Archangel.Hawkeye has this affiliation but not two of the original members…
Well speaking of Defenders, I’d love to see them add Damion Hellstrom and Gargoyle to the game someday to expand the Defenders roster they already have thus far.
Well actually…I don’t think Cable actually is exactly time displaced when he is in the regular Marvel timeline? Nathan Summers was born in the regular Marvel Universe timeline and then sent to the future - when he returns to the past he is actually existing in the time era which he was born. I guess that is maybe a bit of a brain freeze one.

But then why is Netflix DD team cap? Is it based on the mcu or comic civil war? In the comics I remember Tony was recruiting villains for his side, which may explain doc Ock. It feels very haphazard.

Fair. Or remove it from Dr Strange and just have the Netflix defenders. It’s weird to have just one OG member and all the mcu ones.

Shouldn’t have:
Jane Thor- Deity
Netflix Daredevil- Team Cap
Feel free to add!

Wouldn’t that logic also apply to Bishop? He has the time displaced affiliation.
@Daredevil217 I’m pretty sure that there’s a post somewhere on this forum from someone at D3/Demiurge explaining all the Civil War affiliations, and it’s wild. I believe it was based on the comic storyline, but they went into so much detail that it was kind of hilarious. At some point, I think they did go back and add some more folks to it.

I THINK there’s was a Heroic something, where they added more people, so there wouldn’t be like 5 people on each side only.
All I remember was that I was floored that they put that amount of thought, research, and detail into something that had SO little actual bearing on the game.

No Bishop is from the future and shouldn’t exist in the current timeline where he gets stuck in the past, Cable existed as a baby in the current time but was sent to the future after being infected by Apocalypse but then travelled back to the time where should have been growing up (I already have a headache). So it is sort of the difference between The Terminator and John Connor - The Terminator never existed in the time that the film is set in the 80s/90s but John Connor does (or will) - if you change the future after either Connor or Cable were born it doesn’t affect them existing whereas the Terminator and Bishop never existed in the time when the stories are taking place.
But then time and comic books and films = who the hell knows.
