Can we please please stop the trend of “what should we nerf next?”
After all my time invested in this game and purchases, I do enjoy an occasional quick game once and a while and the pleasant feeling of playing a formidable card. I don’t want this to become a game where we’ve got nothing but 3/3 creatures with no abilities that cost 10 mana to cast
I agree with the last two posts. Please stop giving ideas of what to nerf!
This thread was intended to give ideas on what can be done for those players who only ever knew cycling. Not to come up with more idea of how to upset other players by nerfing the whole game. If you want a complete nerf on everything, go play poker or some other card game. Some cards are meant to be feared or hated. Not OP or broken, but daunting enough that you’d want to chase them, yet never face them yourself. (I for one don’t own Omni).
So please only post constructive thoughts and ideas about post-cycling lifestyles here.
(This rant not about anyone specific here in the forums. Just making a point).
Only 1 post, 1 user complain had Kiora nerfed within two weeks.
Dev are not good at knowing what is sarcastic or facetious. They don’t have time to look at hundreds of comments; the’ll take first impression notes only. Even brigby shows instances of not fully grasping what’s going on.
Crying OP during Pre-released notes/card preview do us a lot harm do harm. I suspect this contributed to Lotust nerft. Instead, we should focus or complain about weaker cards during pre-release/previews. Its much better to focus on weaker cards.
I agree with what you’re saying, but this isn’t a great example. The reason they tried to nerf Kiora was because game data showed she had the highest rate of forfeit out of anyone as well as the fastest (many people forfeited the moment they saw they were playing a decent Kiora deck, or even just once they saw that it was a Kiora).
As far as I know it wasn’t done based off of a forum post, although it is certainly possible that that is what pushed them to originally go waaaay too far with it.
I beg to differ. If this game wasn’t handcuffed , I’m assuming , by Magic the Gathering to keep it as close to paper as possible , they would be able to evolve, be more creative with cards and tweak the game play. Their huge resource of legacy and forgotten PWs are under used with the staircase analogy of standard. Having played only a year , I haven’t seen many updates to improve coalitions, unique holiday events, bonus events, improvements to older events, …etc. They should be improving the game itself and not only focus on bringing out new sets. i just played Terror in the Shadows and saw how vanilla it was once you achieved the max rewards. They could be adding rune rewards after the max, add an unbreakable gem that boosts werewolves, spirits, special objectives.. There are so many possiblities.
better examples (I was waving this flag when it happened, I’d link the original threads but they go a ways back), anyways…
1) players complained about cards being overpowered:
we got Ixalan, Huatli 1 (arguably the worst planeswalker in the game), and an event that was despised almost as much as Fate is Rarely Fair.
2) then players complained about Ixalan being underpowered (justifiably):
we got Rivals, Huatli 2 (which at the time was recognized as one of the best planeswalkers in the game, and still may be), and the most reward-generous coalition event to date.
3)I complained that we hadn’t seen Avacyn’s Madness since Innistrad and they brought it back the next day (wasn’t Brigby’s upcoming events calendar)
4) In some of their site Q&A the developers have practically directly quoted players from the forums.
5) Octagon’s quick response to players and fixes to Booster crafting, as well as other big glitches, usually within hours of release.
