After the prologue

I’ve beaten all the missions in the prologue, but no new chapters have appeared. Is the prologue the only non-tournament games?

Yeah icon_e_sad.gif
They have more episodes but they use these as timed competitive events.

Everyone is hoping they make these playable outwith events at some point in the future.

No, you just have poor timing completing the prologue.

There is normally an episodic PvE tournament running from 5 to 10 days at a time.

It has points and progression rewards like a tournament, but also 4 rewards per mission and fixed opponents like the PvE you are familiar with.

They were asking about non-tournament events though chief.

If I interpreted them literally then yes. But I assumed that all they could see right now were PvP tournaments, and if you are looking for more missions like the prologue then PvE tournaments fit the bill.

As it was only their first post I cut them a lot of slack in trying to determine what they were looking for.

Fair play.

I do hope they put more playable permanent content in as the game develops.

Another issue: There isn’t “normally” another PVE episode… They occasionally do.

I hope so too, the fact that this first set of missions is called ‘Prologue’ suggests there should be a lot more content but when will it arrive?

…It arrives every other week dude. Each of the PVE story events is called an “Episode.” That’s the “content after the prologue.” Because the episodes continue the story.

No, I mean proper permanent content, not events you can only play for a few days and then nothing. The single player content needs to increase beyond a Prologue to be more substantial.

No, it doesn’t. Demiurge is making an event-based IAP game because they think that’s where the big bucks are, not because it’s news to them this would be risibly thin as a one-off purchase. They’ve made “no plans at this time” comments, the polite version of “no”, when asked when/if more permanent content will be added.

The whole game is single-player, it just tends to require other people singly playing it as well to work. Possibly that’s why they don’t want alternative distractions in the form of multiple repeatables you can grind away at, I don’t know. They’re paying Marvel for its characters and whoever owns PQ (D3? Infinite?) for the name to use as hooks, but they’re not making the game you think they should be. If you want something you pay for once and get a substantial chunk of content to grind through, you’d be better served by PQ, PQ Galactrix, PQ2, Gyromancer, that kind of rubbish one that uses playing cards (Runespell!), or Might and Magic: Clash of Heroes. Maybe you’ve played all those and any other clones out there to exhaustion, but I can’t imagine most have. Maybe check back on this in six months if it’s still alive and see if it’s changed direction at all.

It might improve sooner, if you’d be happy with something besides tournaments more or less always running. It looked for a while like they were trying to pull that off, but they made a wee bit of a balls of it so that idea appears to be on hold for now, at least briefly.

I think IceIX (or someone else) mentioned that many people haven’t progressed that far through the prologue. I know I delayed pushing through the prologue for a while with the “impossible” label over fights, but then a did a couple and they were actually fairly easy, so progressed pretty fast after I learned to ignore those ratings. They’ve changed the “impossible” rating to “lethal” now which may be a little better.

Would be nice though if they made the week long pve events permanent a month or two later as the story now has gaps between prologue and the current pve - unless they decide to rerun these pve events again at a later date. We just need more non-tournament content icon_razz.gif

ie
Prologue Tab.
Chapter 1.2.3 etc Tabs.
Events tab.

how does paying for in app purchases change the quality of the content? If you think it would be risibly thin as a one off purchase surely it is that thin now as well, if not worse because of the amount of money it wants to have thrown at it.

I realise the whole game is single-player, I probably used the wrong term. Like LoreNYC says what we need is more non-tournament content. I enjoy the PVP, don’t get me wrong, however i also enjoy the Prologue as it gives a change of pace and I don’t need to be glued to it for hours on end. I can play the Prologue type stuff casually and still feel like I am getting somewhere and then when I have a full evening to throw at a tournament I can do that too.

Nothing but PVP is really, really boring after a while. I’m tired of fighting nearly identical teams over and over. Persistent PVE is what the game needs, unless they’re suddenly going to drop 20 more characters on the game to add some variety to PVP, adding repeatable PVE may be the best way.

It wouldn’t matter if they dropped 20 new characters in the game to spice up PvP. There isn’t enough ISO available to level them all, so we would all still be using the same (best) characters.

I agree with what is said in this thread about repeatable PVE or more story mode. PVP or tourneys are for people who has lots of time to stay glued to the game or money to spend on shields. There are lots of other players who rather take a slower pace with PVE.

Take away the ranking system & the new increase-in-difficulty-after-you-complete-a-mission-multiple-times, you pretty much have a new chapter without time limit (& competition). I’ve already played the prologue 2x (excluding the times I’m grinding for all rewards in a mission), it’s like watching a pilot TV series with no follow up (apart from limited time, like those catch up TV apps).

Very true, PVP would still be the same teams. I am getting fed up of having lots of my favourite comic characters languishing in my roster cause they are unplayable due to lack of covers and levels. More PVE non-tournament content would possibly give me a chance to play with them.

I think quantity rather than quality, although it ain’t the most impressive showing on either front, to be honest. And yeah, I do think there’s not much here yet, but Demiurge seems pretty devoted to the idea of releasing it episodically interspersed with reruns. More conventional, non-tournament, grind for small rewards at your own pace stuff has been a frequent request, but they want everyone piling on whatever they put up at the time, and I can kind of see why: the game looks embarrassingly dead when you have brackets, as in Oscorp, just not moving for days. You seemed kind of annoyed with it not being what you’d expect from a “boxed” purchase, but in fairness it never promised that, and there are admittedly older very similar alternatives that do. Possibly you started when it was busier? I know I came in during the first Hunt, and after that wound down an event tab telling me to join a not particularly interesting tournament or sod off elsewhere with my money did seem a novel approach to retention.

I realise the whole game is single-player, I probably used the wrong term. Like LoreNYC says what we need is more non-tournament content.
Sorry, that was just me blithering. It’s a habit. I will say this, though: the only times I’ve come close to burn-out and uninstall were during PvE events. The tournaments really don’t require a huge time investment. You can drop in and out of them pretty casually when you feel like it, not when some bloody point stack is going to refresh, and depending on what placement you want probably don’t need to shield more than once, if that. Getting competitive in the PvE imposes a punishing grind schedule I’d grimace at from a full-blown MMO, never mind this. They did go back to 12 hour resets last time, though, which will hopefully remain a thing.
