It caused a freeze as soon as got resurrected in game buy its landfall ability.
Did not even finish the cascade, I matched 5, it came back in play, the game froze instantly with gems still suspended in air 
Do not know if it can make a difference or not, anyways the “death” was caused a couple turns earlier by Liliana discard skill.
recently had used firebird in story mode, had it resurrect correctly on Android 5.0.2. In fact, had it resurrect 4x for a nice 32/32 
It’s possible that a No More Moves glitch hit with the cascade. I’ve had that rare instance where even with a cascade of fresh gems, a No More Moves can be triggered and force a reshuffle and comes back to this freeze.
Usually on the no more moves bug gems “switch around” graphically then it freezes. Also it freezes on the turn after.
In my case the gems literally froze mid air, it did not even land the gems above the line I destroyed with my landfall.

Did not get it “on the fly” the game actually stuck in this state(note the 5 match missing, the one that triggered landfall for Phoenix)
Also as you can see plenty of moves left if the game would have kept going.
