What are some useful strategies against this team? Hard to burn through Thing fast enough to prevent the other team from getting blue or purple in significant enough quantities to be problematic.[/spoiler]
One of my alliance mates suggested patch/loki. Use patch to trigger Thing’s protect tiles, then flip them to strikes. Loki will generate mischief tiles every time switch gets her countdown off.
I went the aoe route and used boosted black panther, loki, and kamala and came out without a scratch, but maybe I got lucky. It works 60% of the time, every time.
I second BP, Loki and KK. Just AoE them to death and it’s been pretty reliable for me. Just be cautious with BP’s black as it does generate SW’s purple I believe. Let Iceman use his purple if you can, first, before you use Rage of the Panther.
Only bad thing is you can’t actually set off the Thing’s yellow to use Loki’s black if that’s one of your main strategies.
I almost tried gsbw/profx last time through, but held off as I was worried that one of them would get frozen before they got enough ap to start cycling. will try it next time.
As for the qs/profx/if combo, I have never tried that one, since it always seemed less precise that gsbw/switch. will try that too.
I did try patch/loki a couple of time. But I found that by the time I had enough green/black, one of the two was stunned just long enough for the ai to get off a nasty power.
IMHB/IF does work most of the time, but it’s awful bloody. Especially if switch’s countdown generates some fast blue for the ai.
I’ve been running Thor/Loki/Khan throughout the simulator and it’s serving me very well. Lots of AP theft, plenty of hard hitting AoE if I can save up both yellow and purple.
It may be that I am out of practice with PVE nodes, as I have been mostly PVP for the summer. I will have to dust off some of my old standard “punch above their weight” pve combos.
I’ve done it a several times now, using Kamala, Ragnarok, and Hood. I figure Rags is boosted, and he’s only remotely useful when paired with three specific characters, and two of those are also boosted, so why not dust him off and justify some of the Iso I invested in him.
I used Panther, Kamala, Hood.
Went after Thing first. Try and get Panther’s Yellow, then blast them with Kalama Green and Panther Black.
Depending out how Scarlet Witch’s Blue pops, it powers Hood being able to Steal Purple, which only gets you to Kamala’s Purple faster. Slightly dangerous though, but it swings quickly in your favor if they fall right.
Also, you want to deny green too, because Iceman’s green is a powerhouse. The funny thing is that sometimes the AI will use Iceman’s purple instead of Scarlet Witch’s. Sure, he fills the board with blue, but with Hood draining, it’s not all that scary, and lets you use Panther’s Blue for some damage mitigation.
I used Rags, Thor and Kamala. Did match damage against Switch, hit Thing with Rags red to generate blue to match away Snowmen and Arcane Incantations (and in quantities, clear the board of blue). Built up blue, yellow and purple, then charged a bunch of tiles, hit Thing with Thor’s yellow, and picked up any remaining charged tiles with Kamala’s purple. Then CtS or Embiggened Bash as appropriate. Iceman did get off a purple, but I followed that with two thunderclaps to take all of that extra blue for myself.
I used this combo as well, and completed every node twice (the one in question once) on the first try. My characters are only 114 though so my scaling might be lower, but I also did not use a healthpack until the final node.
