Has anyone else seen if you have a 1/1 UC and then buff it, i.e. with Nissa Second Ability giving it +7/+7, and it takes damage once, when the buff goes away UC dies. This does not happen to other creatures you buff. If you buff a creature and it takes damage that is less than the buff and the buff goes away the creature doesn’t lose toughness from the pre-buff state.
Do you think this is the way it was meant that UC works differently with buffs or is it just a coding error when they tried to fixed UC with destroy.
This sounds like the way I would expect it to work.
When a normal creature takes gets nature’s gift (or any other until eot or until your next turn buff), it gets a temporary boost to its health, and any damage comes first from that health pool. Then, when the buff wears off, it loses the remaining bonus.
However, undergrowth champion replaces taking damage with getting -1/-1. Therefore there is no damage that was removed from the nature’s gift stats, so the champion loses the whole health pool granted by the gift.
Also if you use mantle of webs on him a few times it gives you higher defence.
Then if your attack is at zero and you take more damage, for example you are 0/3 and take 2 damage taking you to 0/1 and then buff him by 4/4 you will end up at 2/5 as the reduction is carried over. This doesn’t seem correct to me.
Plus please put his cost back to 12 as he is now not worth the 16 price.
Because other defenders get damaged, undergrowth gets -1/-1.
When an effect ends the game removes the buff BUT any damage taken is applied on the buffed portion first.
So when you take away the buff, the damage dealt to the buff portion is also “taken away”.
Undergrowth take no damage but gets its stats lowered.
So when the stats are taken away it can reach 0 toughness and die.
