Vanguards in this game are explicitly exempt from support removal.

Yes, but certain support removals should be able to target them if they can target Planeswalkers in paper (like some WAR cards that can destroy Vanguards). Assassin’s Trophy is one such card

MTGPQ isn’t 1:1 with card effects with the paper game.
