He is not gaining Lifelink when I have a support in play. It seems to be working for opponents’ cards, but not mine when I play it and have a support in play.
Did you have the support in play when you summoned the knight? He has a “comes into play” ability, so it only checks for the existence of a support when he’s first cast.
