Brace Yourselves

I know this will come as a shock, but the oft-maligned Aven Mindcensor has a use.

..

..

Are you ready for this?

..

First, you load up Ajani, Unyielding. I know, the mana gains are iffy, but dat life total! (You may need it, this could take a while.)

Next, cast Aven Mindcensor. The sooner the better. You know this is the kind of a card that is almost guaranteed to be in your opening hand. Perfect.

Now, let some turns go by. Hopefully, the AI has even cast a creature. Sucker, he just set you up. Kill it with Struggle.

Step three.. activate the Survive gem that Struggle left behind. Took a few turns? No problem. That is all part of the plan. Aven Mindcensor is doing his thing.

Now for the pay of… cast Lord of Extinction. Look at that bonus.. what is it, +12/12?

You are welcome.

Sounds like a lot of work for a 12/12.

LoE can get much bigger with a Bolas discard deck. Put him at the bottom; discard him with tutelage or pull from tomorrow and by the time you cast him with bolas’s ult or Believe you have a 30-40 toughness creature that you got just by playing other cards.

Wait, so you guys don’t like my combo that requires 46 mana and an activated gem spread out over multiple turns? Are you saying Aven Mindcensor is not a very good card?

My mom says I’m funny.

You’re supposed to put a “/s” at the end of your post :stuck_out_tongue:

As long as she stops the sentence there…

If it’s any consolation, I agree with your mom that it’s funny.

My mum thinks you’re funny too.

not bad that someone actually found a good use for an almost useless card. my congratulations.

I’ve been thinking about Valor in Akroan and Thopter Spy Network, anything else that’d help?

Thopters: Sram’s Expertise, Hangarback Walker, Metallurgic Summonings
Ally tokens: Oath of Gideon, Captain’s Claw, Allied Reinforcements, Gideon 2’s second ability, Grovetender Druids
Cycling: Drake Haven

Gideon2 isn’t doing anything exciting right now, this might be fun to play with!

You know, I was thinking about Aven Mindcensor and came up with a simple way to make it better. If it exiled the next creature in your opponent’s deck, it would become significantly better. I feel that would be enough to make it actually worthy of being a rare, situationally useful rather than near worthless.

With Oath of Gideon, Knightly Valor and his 2nd Valor of Akron isn’t bad to mess around with!

Did you try a version with Grovetender Druids in it?

Yes, but the plants not being allies caused trouble. It only mattered because of the Green White Ally Commander wants 3 allies in slots and him getting all abilities is useful.

Ah Veteran Warleader. Yeah Grovetender a Druids doesn’t really fit if you’re going for full Ally synergies. Otherwise it’s pretty nice if you’re just trying to maximise the effect from Valor in Akros haha.
