In the 2.2 node on this weekend’s event, the opponent cast Caligo and it forced me to discard two when there were only five black gems on the board, not the required eight from the card text - anyone else have this issue?

I just had the exact same issue. Right down to there being exactly five black gems on the board. I tried to test if the same thing happened if I cast it, but it’s hard to control the number of black gems on the board.
Same here. Exactly 5 and discarded two cards.
Caligo Skin-Witch’s ability triggered on 6 black gems twice this last game. But not on 4.
Maybe it triggers on “5 or more black gems” instead of 8 as the text says.
This seems similar to the errors with Serra Angel and Josu Vess, where the text doesn’t match the number of gems required
