So during the Civil War event (fighting on Team Iron Man) I’ve been liking a team of IM40, Captain Marvel, and Kamala Khan. Kamala is pretty great, she both heals and does big damage, but compared to the other two she’s a bit squishy… so you can imagine my frustration that despite all three having
and Carol and Tony both being higher level then her and then boosted on top of that for some reason Kamala still is the one pulled to the front when
is matched?
Well yeah, I knew you could check the match damage on the character pages, I just didn’t know what made some characters prioritize some colors over others when other characters also shared the color but where higher level. I didn’t even think that the order that they are on the character would have even been a factor.
Unboosted, Kamala’s yellow damage is greater than IM40’s and Captain Marvel’s even when the latter two are boosted to almost 80 levels greater than her. This is, I believe, a consequence of what’s known as the “nerf” that was handed down to 3* characters when Championing arrived.
Yup… It can be key. Weaker char to the right, tanks in middle.
Can have gameplay implications too… Example is Switch/Goblin… If you put SW ahead of GG, she puts out her CD, he immediately fortifies it. If GG in front, you will have to wait 1 turn for him to fortify.
Something I have always wondered about… How is match-4 damage calculated?
Obviously, the highest damage character does the match-4 at his/her damage… But how is the rest of the row calculated? Are the tiles destroyed at the match damage for the character that made the match-4, or are they destroyed at the match damage of whoever’s icon is on the tile?
Every character has 3 of the 6 colors with higher match damage than the other. These are typically the three colors used by their abilities. Even if they have only 2 abilities, they have 3 strong colors.
When a color is on the board, it looks at the match damage of that color between all 3 characters and whoever has the highest number match damage for that color is assigned to tank that color. In the event of a tie, character placement in the lineup is the tie breaker. There is also speculation that there are decimals behind the scene that also dictate whether match damage is actually “tied” or not between two characters, but I can neither confirm nor deny that.
When the character is boosted, his/her match damage will be higher than normal and can have an impact on whether they tank a color or not in a combo that usually works in normal situations. When Hood is boosted, he tanks several colors much to his detriment with his lower health points, and doesn’t live as long.
This is also why some people intentionally keep characters at lower levels so that they don’t end up tanking colors in certain combinations.
If you click on my roster in my sig, I have a spreadsheet with my roster and their match damages for their current levels so you can see at a glance who have higher damages for certain colors.
Arguably, her passive heal is her greatest asset. That’s usually the reason I bring her along, when I do. If I’m looking for a green AoE I usually go Thor or GSBW, maybe Beast if I need an active blue.
Not saying that her yellow isn’t valuable, just saying that if you are using her for her yellow you probably aren’t intending for her to be taking the bulk of incoming damage…
