Like mobilize the multitude, chord does not work correctly. The convoke lowers the X cost rather than the whole cost of the spell, thus giving little to no mana when you have many creatures and reinforcements out.

After my non-Rising Tensions mythics were Visitation and Multitude, I put together the obvious token/convoke deck. Unfortunately, no part of that worked correctly. With that experience in mind, what are the chances that Chord will actually work correctly? I’m guessing the convoke number will eat into the X, and we’ll wind up with a 9-mana fetch.
update: it doesn’t work correctly.
How you described it is how it should work . Convoke would feed the x.
The reason for the concern is March of Multitudes, which is bugged because the Convoke lowers the Stored Mana cap (we think, its not definitive yet). If chord functions the same way, it will also be bugged.
Exactly. The way convoke interacts with the X on multitude is to lower the overall effect of the X
Confirm.
Maybe it should be a general thread “convoke tinykitties up stored mana”
Weird how this wasn’t found before the release
Chord of Calling indeed got bugged like March. There’s a wrong coding with the interaction between Convoke and Stored Mana (and presumably, with any other effects that lowers mana cost like Hazoret’s Undying Fury, which I haven’t tested).
very weird seeing as it’s the same across multiple cards and is easily replicated by doing the one thing everyone will try to do with the card - make a bunch of tokens and then cast convoke.
Hi everyone, I can confirm that the team is aware of the issue with Convoke and cards with Stored Mana, and they are currently looking into the problem. I’ll add the problem to the bug list for reference.
I tested:
Hazoret’s Undying Fury + Blue Sun’s Zenith = Works correctly.
Hazoret’s Undying Fury + Banefire = Works correctly.
Hazoret’s Undying Fury + March of Multitudes = Creates 12 tokens if no creatures in play, otherwise incorrect.
Hazoret’s Undying Fury + Chord of Calling = 18 mana gained if no creatures in play, otherwise not 18.
Electromancer + Blue Sun’s Zenith = Works correctly.
Electromancer + Banefire = Works correctly.
Electromancer + March of the Multitudes = Creates incorrect token count.
Electromancer + Chord of Calling = Incorrect mana gained.
Immortal Sun + Blue Sun’s Zenith = Works correctly.
Immortal Sun + Banefire = Works correctly.
Immortal Sun + Marc of the Multitudes = Creates 12 tokens if no creatures in play, otherwise incorrect.
Immortal Sun + Chord of Calling = 18 mana gained if no creatures in play, otherwise not 18.
So, in conclusion, Convoke itself is broken, not cost reduction in general.
I think the problem lies in the convoke option. When I cast is with an empty board, it works. With convoke active, just a complete dud. This is in reference to chord of Calling.
March of the Multitudes has a similar problem. First cast works. With convoke - busted.
Could you ask if this behavior is intended or a bug?
I assume the latter, but just in case…
There’s no need to tag Brigby. There’s already a bug thread about this and it’s marked as Investigating and in the bug list.
Since it was confirmed as being buggy it could even be moved and merged, so the tag would have a use in the end
*Merged similar threads together
Just QFT-ing this as a thanks; Sorry that I myself haven’t tried testing it, so thank you for helping all of us pinpoint the problem.
I’ll just go back to Viven’s Invocation, then, for now. At least for 2 extra mana I’m guaranteed the summoned card gets into play that turn.
Hi Everyone. This issue should be fixed in the 3.1 update
Does this also fix the issue on March of the Multitudes and Worldsoul Colossus? They are the same bug, after all.
@Brakkis According to my information, the fix in 3.1 should correct this problem for all the cards that have Convoke and Stored Mana.
