City's Blessing

There are lots of token generators in this game that make getting the City’s Blessing rather trivial. However, excluding tokens would make it way harder, too much so in my opinion. I propose a compromise, up the total needed for the City’s Blessing to 20, and make every non-token support and creature count double. 30 and triple would be possible too, but I think 20 would be enough.

I propose keeping it as it is. Achieving it is not immediate enough to be problematic, and when you do it’s not that big of a deal. Let’s not measure it by that Bo4T’s Azor gateway encounter, shall we?
Don’t need to fix what’s not broken.

I agree

The City’s Blessing is quite easy to get, agreed. However, outside of Azor’s Gateway in BoFT, it doesn’t spell an immediate loss when the opponent acquires the City’s Blessing and as such, I would say not to nerf this mechanic.

It’s that boss node that needs readjusting.

Easy to achieve? In a way, yes. Is it really game changing? Not enough to ask for it to be nerfed. We cannot be complaining about every new mechanic introduced into this game.

Yeah, it’s true that Azor’s Gateway is the only time it’s really been an issue. I imagine running across Vona’s Hunger would be pretty nasty though. I guess I just feel like getting out non-token stuff should be worth more for this because it’s generally harder. I haven’t run across anyone with a nasty Ascend deck yet, has anyone seen one?

City’s Blessing is easy to get by design. It’s actually harder here than it is in paper magic as at least there you can count your lands as part of the 10.

I see no no problem with how it is now.

I agree not to nerf this mechanic. It works well and you need to build it up before being able to take advantage of it. It isn’t a game changer, but definitely gives you a nice boost - if you can achieve it before you are blown away. So why change it?

It’s only Azor’s Gateway that has people thinking about it… I mean maybe someone will break it in their own decks too but it doesn’t seem to have happened yet.

There are ways to adjust Azor’s Gateway individually though, loyalty costs, of even swap away one of their “create treasure” cards would help!

Well, with Nyx it’s an endless mana and lifegain source on ale very turn. I’ve run tests with Immortal Sun in play and talk about a game lockdown…

Almost every turn the gateway transforms, gives you 5 life and 5 mana and is called back to the field in the beginning of your next turn. And that repeats again and again… And the transformed gateway does not stack. So there’s your City’s Blessing.

That’s definitely a bug when you combine any of the transforming supports with nyx.

I agree: the flipping supports count as destroyed and they are sent to the graveyard when they flip. At the same time the flipped side counts as the casting of a new support. This originates all sorts of unintended interactions. Even though I live to abuse them, I’d rather have them fixed so that when the supports flip nothing is destroyed and nothing is created.

Many of the older flip things count properly as the same card and only exist in one place and state at the same time instead of being copied.

Oh, but I meant the boss, not the card… you can get it easy but only the boss can abuse it so far that I know of.

Azors gateway never even got close to having the blessing any of the times I played it .It has an x turns or less objective and punishes you for being slow . That’s not a poorly designed mechanic . That was a semi brutal, but cool. Design . Thing only has 222 hp . They even made it realistic to achieve. These events aren’t supposed to be easy. We’re just spoiled . Especially in gold and platinum.

Please, can any one tell if I should have or not City’s Blessing?

Ten supports, two creatures and one with 19 reinforcements.

You do not get blessing unless you cast a card that would require it or have a creature on the field that would require it. Those are the times that it checks.

Thank you very much.

It’s only easy to get in the Ixalan universe, where treasure-tokens count towards it.

You could maybe pull it off with Tezz 2, but it would still take at least 3-4 turns to activate, not including the additional cards you’d require to set off the combo, and if your opponent has a single mass-support destruction like River’s Rebuke or The Great Aurora you’ve got to start the entire thing over.

My vote is for keep it as is, and readjust the Azor Gateway boss that piggybacks City’s Blessing with cheat codes.

Thats not entirely true, any sort of token generator, creature or support, makes it pretty easy to trigger. Even more so in legacy.

I still agree that it should be kept as is, but it certainly isn’t difficult to make work if you’re building around it.
