It was awful. Wasp gets a massive advantage with the CD bug. Basically a bonus 600 hit point attack every single turn!!! Completely ridiculous.
I have every old 4* championed, so usually I consider CoTs my reward for all my hard work. This one took me three times to win. Completely dependent on a board that gave me Blue and Red and didn’t allow blue to fall into Wasp’s hands within the first few turns.
I’d completely forgotten about the stupid countdown bug, so when I was at about 4000 hp and only needed one red match to win, I didn’t even blink when I got stung and stunned. Seconds later I was looking at a loss screen.
I got her the first try with my champed Peggy, but it was close as she immediately got this long, several 5 tile match cascade on her first turn that if it wasn’t for Peggy’s yellow, she would have been firing all her powers on the 2nd turn. Got lucky with reds to take her out (and a partial blue), though she chewed a chunk of health out of me.
Fittingly enough, got another Wasp cover from the LT, bringing her to lvl 282. The countdown bug was rough in this Crash, but man that has been my favorite bug in this game since the Vision bug, I hope they never fix it. And if they do, release a character whose passive is exactly this, dealing damage for all friendly countdowns hitting zero.
L200 Peggy fully covered, first try, bad board full of yellows and blacks, quit that match, second try, see a red to cascade L shape, then another red cascade to T shape, use 2 punches to her face.
This was actually pretty hard for even a 5/3/5 champ Peggy with the reworked Wasp and cd bug. Didn’t do it without respec to 5/5/3 and +30% RY, +20% all damage boosts and +2 R/Y.
Peggy Blue is pretty useless 1v1 even though it’s a great power overall.
I think this is actually a good matchup barring the cd bug though. Peggy would just squash anyone with moderate to expensive powers and no really amazing passive.
took 6 tries with a level 190 5/5/2 Peggy. Every times I would get close to enough reds to knock her out, she’d steal a couple reds. Plus I could only ever match enough reds to get 1 punch then the game played keep away with reds.
The CD but is pretty cool up until you fight muscles when they can slip in a couple strike tiles on you, then it’s downright absurd
2/2/4. Ugh. Wasp’s powers are damn cheap, even with some help from yellow. My red doesn’t hit nearly hard enough and blue isn’t all that useful in a 1-on-1. Not looking good at all.
Any countdown tile that reaches 0 does 1 damage plus it’s intended effect. So Wasp can throw down a little bit unavoidable damage each round via her passive, but this gets boosted by her strike tiles so it can snowball fast.
Yeah, to echo what everyone said, it was probably a little easier last time with a 3/0/1 Lv111 Peggy than it was today with a 5/3/3 Lv200 Peggy. What a difference a buff and a bug make. It’s still not as bad a matchup as Sam Wilson/Captain Marvel, at least in my opinion, but it’s tough.
The Legendary Token gave me a blue Mordo, making him 0/3/3.
Hah! Your warning came too late! I forgot to respect my 3/5/5 Peggy and it was an agonizing fight. I managed to win (barely,) but man is blue useless in one on one.
Fortunately it was a blue-poor board and I managed to gobble up most of it - she was only able to trigger her passive late in the fight.
After last week’s CoT and taking a stab at this one, I feel the opponents need to be reevaluated, especially for characters that have powers that rely on allies or multiple targets, or when the opponent for the Crash is a hard counter to the featured character. I get the whole challenge aspect of it, but I feel like Peggy’s and Flaptain’s Crash were unreasonably favored against the player.
Also, I am aware of the CoT thread in Events, but I think it merits being parked here because CoT involves game progression as well
Well, they’re certainly not meant to be easy. They happen to be much easier for the few characters who can make themselves invisible indefinitely, but for the most part none of them are ‘easy’.
Peggy certainly isn’t the only 4* who loses some functionality on her powers. And at least Do As Peggy Says still does -something- in a 1v1 scenario. The same cannot be said for
Prof X Yellow
Thing Yellow
Quake Yellow
Drax Purple (Ok, this at least fuels his Black a little bit)
Venom Black (this is even actively a penalty)
Deadpool Black
What’s your Peggy covered at right now, out of curiosity?
If they would ever fix the countdown glitch, this crash would be much easier.
My Peggy has gained approximately 30 champion levels since the last time her crash came around, but because of the countdown glitch, I had a harder time today.
I certainly struggled with Peggy’s clash (using a level 188, 4/2/3 Peggy), however I feel a lot of the difficulty came from the Countdown damage bug which is still in the game. Wasp can get a Strike tile out fairly cheaply, and gets a passively regenerating 1 turn countdown.
Even without the bug, it’s absolutely clear that the developers did not consider that they had changed Wasp’s power set since the last time they ran this clash. That’s probably my biggest concern - that the developers forgot what they did ~4-5 weeks ago.
