Couple of (Temporary?) Forum Modifications

Wanted to bring this up since a couple of you eagle eyed forumites may have noticed.

Made a couple modifications to the forums that should possibly help with spam.

1 - All Newly Registered User posts need to be approved first. This means that Mr. Hi-Fi has quite the job ahead of him.
2 - Users are only Newly Registered for one post. If David approves one seemingly “normal” post, that user is probably not a spammer. They could always get crafty down the line though.
3 - Blew the everloving snot out of the user base, killing every spam account I could easily find. Probably missed a few though.

The first two may get monkeyed with depending on results. The third allows us to immediately see results since we won’t be dealing with a backlog of “pre-approved” spammers.

Please, as always, let us know how things are going. Keep reporting those threads if you see them. Hopefully we’ll see less Niek shoes, Armni bags, and British Fitted Kitchens around here.

I miss the FittedKitchens. icon_cry.gif

cough doctor octopus info please cough

You’ll get it soon enough, upcoming PVE Event and all. A day or two won’t kill 'ya. icon_e_smile.gif

You sure? I got this bad forum cough… I should probably see a forum doctor.. One with like four metallic arms;)

It was worth a try… Spoilers I guess.

Can we get PVE events to run back to back like PVP events? Why the 1-3 day breaks?

Way back in the mists of time (like, a whole year ago!) we ran a few PVE Events back to back, one of them even overlapping another. Engagement wasn’t the greatest when that happened as users just got tired of a never-ending slog of competitive-for-points matches across 2-4 Events. Giving people a break lets them get a bit of energy back for the next one.

I remember 2 back-to-back week long Hulk events during the holidays that just soul crushed everyone. “Fun” times.

breaks are nice. It means I can actually work on a full nights sleep.

Looks like one was missed, berg53vn has just started spamming, the little shit.

I like breaks. But I also like to know what’s coming. More info for the next PvE with expected rewards and required essential characters will be nice.

Squished. Didn’t catch him because the IP range that he’s posting from also contains a few real life actual users so he was overlooked.

I hope that precaution #1 is temporary, or we appoint more staff - like soon.

That’s why this isn’t an announcement/sticky/full change. We’re seeing if this even actually affects anything in the first place and move from there.

Fair enough.

I guess my biggest concern is confusing the player base. Is there a notification? We need to make it as obvious as possible and in my honest opinion a sticky thread about it does not suffice - people just don’t read them. Most users register to say something and when they can’t say something, they get frustrated. If the notification is just when they attempt to post, does it note why they need to be approved first? Giving as much information as possible will ease the pain of having to bite your tongue.

I hope I am not coming off as aggressive or pushy - just speaking from my own experiences on both sides of the fence.

Pfft! That’s not a way to build hype. You have to tease. At least throw out his colors!

Show us a little tentacle here!

Thanks for the response and I can understand that reason. However, for players like myself that are trying to make the transition to 3* covers and get the ISO necessary to level my characters I have 2 days of doing nothing. PVP events I reach my ceiling in 6-8 hours thus no point of entering earlier and prologue is all done.

So maybe you can give us some type of repeatable PVE mode that can reward the 70-100-140 ISO instead of just 20. Maybe put a cap of 25 per day so ISO are not devalued. Because the way it stands now for 3 days I long in for 1 match and that’s it. Give us a way to stay active and let the players decide if they want to participate or not. Don’t make that decision because some people can’t pace themselves.

You could try the patented Roach method: join early, don’t shield for the first few days, get beat a few dozen times and get more ISO from climbing back up again.

Which also gives you more points per match and keeps your MMR under control.

I know that some other forums I signed up for relatively recently went and hid all but the ‘new user’ sub forums until the account was approved to a full user. It’s especially clear when the description for that one sub-forum says “post here to be approved”
