Ok - after the brutality that was the Rocket&Groot PVE, I am begging you for the love of Thanos DO NOT make a 4* character an essential in a PVE - ever. I realize this happened once with Fury - and many (myself included) are still mad at that even through I had managed to get a Fury cover.
Obviously this mostly applies to 4Thor since she was just given out. I’ve already seen some people who have maxxed her (Xmen - here they come) - bully for them. And it will make PVP an insane clown party of XFW+4Thor for the foreseeable future. Which sucks for the rest of us, but at least it’s “fair” in the sense that you can use anyone in PVP.
Don’t compound the PVP problem by making the Goddess of Thunder an essential in a PVE. 4Thor will make pretty much any PVE node trivial to beat as it is with her easy to cast 4-turn stun on blue. But don’t make her (or any 4*) an essential. It’s not right - and you know it.
Its happened more than that in the early days IW was required on some nodes because it had only just started out and was unable to play those essentials.
I would be amazed if Thor wasn’t required. The “hook” for people continually spending a large proportion of their waking hours on PVE is because they know if they miss out on one, then the next PVE is basically a wash as well.
Aaaaahh for the love of Thanos, but Thanos only loves the mistress Death, so Death will be in the next PvE. As Death is the name of the game for the new Fresh Cut with Blade and Thoress as rewards too. There is only death when Thanos is involved, and when these juicy rewards appear.
They should make ‘Essentials’ like it is in PvP - if you don’t have the character then you get a ‘loaner’ lv70 version with 1 power. Still able to compete, but relatively gimped compared to people with multiple covers or levelled up.
You request was considered, and then immediately denied. Required for the 2nd run of Rocket and Groot for a new character. I feel like this should have been expected.
This is the definition of the problem a thread mentioned awhile back - there is no way to take a week or so off in this game, you might as well quit.
I already forget what was essential to get Groot, but then:
Groot essential to get Thoress
Thor essential to get Gamora
Gamora (will be) essential to get [whatever is next, God forbid it is yet another new character].
You simply can’t take some time off and compete - it takes forever to get these characters in packs, they are not guaranteed, the drop rate is slim at best.
Yes - this has really made me see the light. I think D3 is banking on attracting new suckers rather than keeping players active over the long haul. This endless parade of new characters creating crazy PVE grinds followed by stupid low probability cover packs is pretty much ruining the game for me (as others have said as well).
The sad part is that D3 is partially trading on the nostalgia of the Marvel Universe to keep people hooked on this non-sense. I suspect many players, like myself, like this game because of the ties to the comics (and to a growing extent, the movies) that we read in our youth. This nostalgia creates an emotional attachment to the characters that overwhelms what would otherwise be a more level-headed approach to playing this game in a less insane way.
I’m on day 360 playing this game - approaching 1 year done. While I love the characters and the stories on which they’re based, I’m not sure I can see myself still playing into year 2 without some major changes (almost all of which have been well stated by others).
