Why are we earning covers for 5 JG Phoenix and Daredevil- instead of earning the latest 5* covers.
It’s a real bummer. Zaps my motivation to contribute to boss events. Especially if you’re not even rebalancing these characters. I do not appreciate the change.

War - season pass gave shards
The new pass is up, and the Drop Bears are in it. I’m guessing the new season vault will look like the War one again.
I guess we have our answer, they decided to stop giving away so many covers for new releases in bosses which are gimme events for any decent alliance. They prefer to try to sell them via SXP and vault tokens etc.
I passed this on to the team to look into further, as they shouldn’t have been removed but may have been taken out mistakenly during the 6* Boss Events.

I’d be happy to be proven wrong. It sure looks like the idea was to make the rewards thematically coherent and as a result we didn’t get the newest character.
I would say a reset to just give the newest one in Latests moving forward would be fine, since for a while we got covers for a character who wasn’t even in Latests.
I don’t think anyone will mind if the rewarded 5 doesn’t tie into the boss theme.
Better yet, select the boss to thematically match the latest 5.
Better yet.. Just do what happens with every single event: rewards have no necessary tie to the events they are earned in.
Why start now? We have basicaly never for over a decade.
@jeto is 15 days not enough for the team to look into it and make a change to something that is unintentional? We have Kang as cover rewards instead of the latest 5 release. Or is this similar to why we can’t have general support shards as boss rewards anymore, because you don’t know how to make that change in the back end?
Either way, an update and status report would be appreciated.
I suppose if you must do old toons, doing useful ones is better than someone like 5DD.
On the other hand my Kang is 550, so I’m just building a dupe.
Also next time please try to make sure different color covers are rewarded in personal and alliance progression. Also would take 500 shards, but that wouldn’t create any roster pressure so I don’t expect that.
We are looking to update the rewards for next month’s event.
Also, just from a dev side, we are also updating our tools now that IP2 has taken this on board, to try to eliminate opportunities, where possible, for errors like these being removed.
Since we’re talking about boss event rewards, what about the support shards? I know there was a change recently to a fixed support rather than a favorite, but if you already have the support at rank 5 you only get half as many shards for your favorite. Can this be changed so we get the full amount? Not the biggest concern, but just wanted to put it out there in the universe or see what others thought.
The reasoning they gave for that was they couldn’t get favorite support shards to work in the rewards table. It’s only been 3 months and it’s probably not a high priority..
Yeah, I don’t mind that part so much. It can be shards for a specific support, I don’t think that’s unreasonable to begin with. It’s just that those of us who have that event’s support are only getting half of that reward. The boss events reward 50/100/400 shards, but if you have it as a R5 already you get 25/50/200.
It’s definitely a first-world 1% problem, but when we did just get favorite shards we would have still gotten the full amount.
Supports has been a dead feature for so long the 1% feels like it’s the people who need any shards at all lol
I think the only supports i rely on are the power stone and the ai one, got all excited to put spidey sense on cosmic peter but it has to be his infinity war variant to get the unlockable

It’s definitely not a high priority, but there are a good handful of useful supports. Some are definitely better than others, and some might be more helpful with future characters.
I have 31 R5 supports, so it’s not like I’m suffering much of a setback! I just thought it was worth mentioning since I’m sure I’m not the only person explicitly getting less rewards than others for the same effort since this.change was made.
I have asked the team if there is anything in the works down the road for Supports. If I get anything I can share, I’ll jump back in here.
