I’ve noticed over the last couple days (especially today) that the AI seems to be a bit better than it has been since the lobotomy.
Was there an update I didn’t know about?
I’m seeing Ob save up for his ult (despite me having a creature out), I see Karn using his ult (but not his second), and generally more intelligent matches overall (although not quite as good as it was).
Can someone confirm if this was intentional and not just random luck? Thanks!
I don’t think so. I had a match yesterday against angrath . I had a terrible start . I would have been extra dead if he popped his ult. Just kept spamming his first . I could be wrong, but I don’t think so . The current iteration of Greg is just awkward. I’ve noticed that it occasionally behaves oddly, but there doesn’t really seem to be any sort of reasoning behind it.
The black trial of the planes today was a nightmare. Facing level 60 Bolas all the way, the AI was able to empty their whole hand on multiple occasions with troll decks, mainly broken imminent doom decks. Point is that Greg was able to get multiple match 5’s within two turns and it was impossible to compete. If this continues I don’t see the point of playing, just watching 10 minutes of the AI playing cards (in one turn) and then obliterating me is not fun.
The get lucky again and cascading a lot. Plus in totp events blue and black are a lot omni/whir around. If the opponent “luckily” cascade into whir first turn you are almost dead. Not fun.
But I did not see Greg acting wiser than before. Yes Ob did not use his first over and over again and probably saving for ult, but today he didn’t kill baral when doom already took him down to half life. Not so wise I think. But against a charged doom Ob has already lost, with or without baral. So in the end it only could buy time.
But more and more omni poisoning the game. Hope they nerf this card. One month earlier I would say don’t nerf , but todays omni decks are well tuned, even Greg could pilot these decks to victory. In a blink of an eye, your board is empty, opposite is fllooded with pig or similar beasts and you lost before you even find a answer.
Greg varies I believe what platform your in with my experience.Story mode is easy, Across Ixalan it matches better and cascades but skill inept.. etc..again just my experience.
HUF with Deploy the Gatewatch, Baral, various loop decks.. There are various ways Greg can get on a roll and win. I’ve lost to the Deploy the Gatewatch loop or HUF combo more than Omni. One HUF can bring out 12 creatures if there are no other spells in the deck. Pig teamed with Emrakul = gameover.
The whole omni vs huf debate is old and ultimately pointless. Omni can hurt to face , but really isn’t this bogey man that everybody always cries about . Sure totp can be brutal, but you can lose 4 times and still make progression as long as it isn’t 4 in a row . If you are losing 4 in a row, you should probably just save your crystals . I lost, nerf this card is just lame. Huf can be scary ,too . But it does 1 of 2 things. In legacy ,it vomits out lots of big scary monsters . Sometimes you die .Most of the time Greg doesn’t get the opportunity to play it . If you find yourself routinely losing to a 21 mana spell , your deck is too slow anyway. In standard the first huf either deals 70 damage to you or creates random chaos if they’re green , but it’s roughly the same. If you keep losing to the same 21 mama spell , tweak your deck. Huf is a reality just like omni . Crying and hiding under the bed isn’t going to make it go away.
What I have been seeing the last couple of days is a combination of the AI playing better, the board not seemingly give what the player needs to get cards out, and the answers to what the AI is playing not coming up. I’ve tweaked what wining decks and still seeing losses with the AI getting Piggy out by turn 2?
I don’t see the AI getting better with it’s ability usage. Still tends to spam the same abilities over and over, regardless of how much loyalty it has.
But the gregscades, those have just gotten ridiculous. It’s not even a matter of gem swap choice. It’s the 30+ mana cascades that follow a single match 3.
I haven’t seen any change in either Greg’s ability or the amount of extraordinary cascades he hits. He’s still dumber than smart, and he still doesn’t seem to hit any more crazy cascades than I do.
