I haven’t gotten that far yet, but I’d imagine, since he was essential in Galactus Hungers, that he won’t be essential in the Gauntlet. Hulkbuster should be the only 4* essential in this event.
I’m going to guess Nova or Miles. I remember doing a Gauntlet and getting all the way to the last node and Mr. F. was the required. I nearly snapped my phone in two because I did not have him yet.
Mr. Craptastic was required during that run because he was just released the event before that.

Second sub: 3 x mostorm, 3 x cmags
Third sub: 3 x r & G, 2 x cmags, 1 x hulkbuster
Interestingly 2* bullseye is essentially boosted but is not required in any of the essential nodes

Iirc, he was producing a strength 76 protect tile at level 181.
My memory’s pants, but…don’t they normally skip the 2* essential for Gauntlet?
