I updated as soon as I saw it was available. Now all the app does is show me the title screen. No spinning wheel. No movement at all.
I downloaded right away also. I’m on Apple. When I tried to purchase 320 crystal packs it gave me error after error and would t let me purchase. So I deleted the app and reinstalled. Logged with Facebook and now I’m 1500 crystals lighter with no cards. Like I always say new update new bugs.
Completely unplayable across 2 devices for me on android. 1200 crystals and 300 jewels wasted on error messages. Error message on crafting. Error message on event load in. Fleeting excitement could be a synonym for this game.
Worked on my device… guess I got lucky.

I updated on Android and had none such problems. Not a general bug.
Having the same issue as OP. I updated, logged in with no problem, then logged out and went to bed. When I woke up I tried to log back in; no dice. Just keep getting the “check your connection,” error page.
Why would you post about android in an IOS topic. Please remove above comment it is irrelevant.
Newest IOS, IP8. Always delete app and reinstall fresh. No issues as all others report.
