I just saw a thread where someone said they lost several games and had 511 points. I am also at 511, and have only lost two matches (and twice total have missed support objectives). I should be 29 points off perfect. But checking the top rank in my bracket shows someone with 552 points, a 41-point difference. I have played every node, I have not hit max nodes. My next node refresh is 2 hours after the event ends.
What’s going on?
Update: Person in other thread edited their score to say 411, so that one is explained. Top rank in my bracket is still 552 though, so apparently some people are getting extra points (through bugs, I guess).
I’m also sitting with a final score of 511. My bracket has that same funky top score.
The assumption floating around was that that lucky player got an extra “bugged” charge on one of his/her nodes.
Weird…but not entirely impossible.
Yes, I have had it happen in legacy. A string of errors when starting a match made the game not remove a charge and I got an extra. Maybe you can force it to happen by deliberately turning off and on data at loading points to see if it can trigger by player or if it’s on the games side.
If you can force it, it need to be fixed asap to avoid abuse.
I would imagine attempts to abuse any bug there may be are as likely to result in a loss as an extra charge. I doubt it’s an instance of cheating, game just bugged in someone in exactly the right way.
Yes, I don’t think this is cheating since it’s too obvious if so.
But if it’s possible to replicate on player side it will be used to cheat as soon as someone finds a safe way to do it.
Thats why it needs to be investigated.
I’ve only seen extra charges gained or lost from SWW, not just connection issues (that last RotGP hit me with several of each, and a couple randomly disappearing charges too). I’ve also never seen a SWW from cycling my data off and back on, which I’ve done quite often lately to force this game to load faster. It seems weird, but when one of those loading circles lasts longer than usual, a data toggle usually fixes it. I never have Wi-Fi on, so that’s not part of it.
