So now that the Hour of Devastation packs are updated, I opened the packs I had saved up waiting for this. In those packs I pulled a duplicate copy of literally the only masterpiece I have from the set. The answer is probably “no” but do we know if there’s any policy to get something different when we pull a duplicate this way?
It’s pretty disappointing to get such a rare card, and to only have a 1 in 10 chance of it being a duplicate of one you have and still have it be a duplicate. (Not to mention, it’s Lord of Extinction, so a duplicate of one of the worst ones in the set)
I don’t know of any policy about that. But I also don’t know of any policy against it either. And a masterpiece, being as rare as it is, should deserve attention from support. Maybe you can set a new policy in talking it over with them? Would save the despair for future dupes on masterpieces…
Lord of Extinction is 21 mana for a 1/1 that MAYBE comes out bigger, but not likely since the AI doesn’t seem to like to play spells, and everything exiles nowadays. Probably second worst masterpiece in the set, behind maybe Sunder.
Well, if my collection is any indication of how packs work, you’re on par. I don’t have many masterpieces (4 to be exact) but I have 2 shatterstorms. Dupes are annoying, especially when they’re masterpieces. They’re also just a fact of life.
Don’t have behold the beyond, so that’s unfortunately, no help to me. Though I have noticed that Day’s Undoing does put cards into the graveyard rather than library like the card text says, so maybe there’s that.
Either way all the time spent trying to cast it is time spent not putting cards into my graveyard, so it seems a hard card to make work.
Days undoing doesn’t put cards in graveyard. They just changed the animation so it seems like discarding, which is very annoying. I liked the animation before when all the cards in both hands just disappeared and then you drew new ones. They seem to love doing things that no one asked for.
From what I’ve seen, it does not. I’ve observed decks where an opponent plays Day’s Undoing and then suddenly gets activated gems for embalm and aftermath that were no in play before, which would imply that they discarded cards with those effects as a result of casting Day’s Undoing.
I’ve not yet tested this out with my own decks to confirm, only observed it from the other side.
I use this combo a lot and am certain that days undoing does not result in activate gems for my honored hydra or reason or even farm. Now, what could happen is days undoing autocasts desert of the mindful into gather the pack which WILL dump the hydra in the graveyard. That’s a more likely explanation.
