I know I’m not the only one that has an excess of Mana Runes that I currently will never exhaust… Should there be a way to convert mana runes to mana orbs now that booster crafting is coming… say 1000 runes for 1 orb? I personally have over 1.6 runes that are unused…
Conversion of mana runes would be nice. But not only to orbs. Maybe crystals or jewels too. Crystals would be nice to get that PW you could be missing.
I support runes converting to orbs/crystals/jewels as long as the cost is insanely high. It would be silly for players to eventually hit 8 figure rune counts.
I’m fine with them not adding this function but I would like to see something in place to allow for a limitless rune-sink. Another option would be unlimited, rune-purchased deck slots. Each additional slot beyond the first 45k could cost an extra X amount of runes. There needs to be some way for players with massive rune counts to deplete their reserves if they so choose.
Considering the fact that dupes will now be converted into both Runes and Orbs in the new system, it’s quite safe to say that we shouldn’t expect a conversion system from Runes to anything anytime soon.
I don’t consider runes to really be an “asset”, as such, regardless of the number some people have accumulated. You get them for literally every round you play in every mode, and they were only used for levelling PWs until the option to buy a deck slot with them was added (during the time I’ve been playing, anyway, not sure if it was different in the first year).
If they’d created a system where PWs automatically gained a level for every 20 fights, no one would be asking to buy things with all of the extra fights they’d played after maxing PW levels.
That’s pretty much what runes are, a tally of total playtime, and I don’t think it’s necessary to start creating new uses for them simply because of imagined wealth. The game doesn’t need a new currency, and I’d rather see the developers and designers spending their time and effort on addressing core game play elements than trying to balance out one more exchange system.
Considering We just saw our first 3 color PW released, and the cost to level him up is high, there may yet be a time when runes will be needed. Also note that getting more runes is something that has been factored into booster crafting when converting your dupes - into orbs AND runes. I could care less either way about having excess runes. But I think you could never go wrong if you continued to have a large stash of runes for the future. Just saying.
Oh yeah my bad, that would be 20,000. Though for the reasons mentioned in this thread, it is unlikely to happen. I’m fine with Runes being just for levelling planeswalkers.
Yes but I actually don’t see runes as completely useless now. They are always going to release new PWs and having excess runes means that I’ll never have to grind to just level them up.
Besides, there are hours of QB spent on accumulating those runes.
to be honest this would go too much to the benefit of veteran players. New players would be confused and risk of not using the runes to level up their pw, because of a chance to craft some cards. I think runes are enough for pws and deck slots. Eventually you could use them for currency for some kind of new event. But thats just an idea i have.
My thoughts mirror yours. 1.6 million runes is a lot, but it cost almost 25% of that total to level Bolas. That is an impressive chunk of runes. I suspect the cost to level increase is Oktagon’s doing in trying to find some balance. If so, then these runes will be much needed as new planeswalkers are released.
With the dupes converting to both orbs and runes… those of us with an excess of runes are actually not receiving anything useful. I set the rate high because I don’t expect that they truly are worth much, but something… anything is better than nothing… And as an ex computer programmer I can tell you programming a convert button is not a lot of lines of code… It is just sort of worthless to do all the events and not receive anything of value for the runes. I acknowledge this is a great system for those joining the game… but for those of us who have sustained the game a little reward for our loyalty would be nice…
