When you activate a red gem it doesnot due the five damage. I have had upwards of 10 shields on this support and still nothing.

I reported the same bug a month ago via support ticket and still nothing is fixed! Card is broken! Fix it already
Its not based on shields, its based on reinforcements. Its a subtle (and non-intuitive) difference, but it might be the reason you’re having issues
Yeah it might be a subtle difference but when you activate the blue gem it removes 1 shield and draws a card so one of them are bugged.
But really you think you have to cast it 5 times to get the red to activate instead of 4 shields. Really?
I mean, it should reinforce itself when you cast spells. But yeah, you theoretically need to cast it and 4 other things to use the red. There’s a reason it isn’t used much.
According to my information, Firemind’s Research is functioning as intended. This card’s effects are based on Reinforcements and not on Shields. Shields will be lost when using the Activate effects due to the loss of the reinforcements, however.
I dont think you lose shields when you lose reinforcements on a support.
