Well, I wonder WHAT WOULD HAPPEN…
let’s see. If everyone happened to read this post, and let’s just assume that it’s for MPQ as well…
…AND if everyone actually took it to heart and started what is basically a boycott of services for a predetermined amount of time…
I don’t think much would change. Maybe they’d hold a special event to try to entice people back… Or maybe a special store or two would pop up to encourage spending again…
But really – no real changes would happen. Despite all the complaints about the game being stale, every whale AND every vet still expect the same (with wiggle room) rewards per day and per event. Which means that if they change that AT ALL, the devs know that the biggest spenders are gonna get mad. This gives the devs very little room to work with rewards, unless they are increasing them. Which, of course, is something they are not likely to do. After all, they’d rather have players invest large amounts of time/money in order to get these resources.
Any change to PvP also seems to upset whales and vets. I say this because there are numerous topics about it, and for every one that suggests a change, or even an along-side PvP event, there’s 2-3 people right behind that post telling you how stupid it is. Which, imo, is funny, because holding an along-side event does nothing but present more opportunities for rewards, but oh well.
Any change to balance is out of the question. No one wants the type of nerf they’ve offered in the past. NO ONE. It’s one of the few things we all agree on. And as much as we’d like buffs, we all know that they wanna put out new content to entice paying, rather than improve on what they’ve already made. I’m actually still surprised they changed Mr. fantastic… But it’s such a rare occurrence, that I doubt it’ll happen in the same way again.
In the end, it sounds like being a Debbie downer, but everyone on these forums argue for and against changes with equal ferocity. So what are the devs supposed to do? Basically, stay the course. Which only benefits those people who’ve grown comfortable in this format and don’t like change… I.e. the whales and a percentage of vets. In other words, the people who pay the most.
Since those people wouldn’t join us in such a boycott, the devs would still get their money. The rest of us would just move on to another game. And to be honest? I’ve been here since beta. I don’t wanna start fresh with another game. I’ve gotten a roster and resources that can only be shown with years of dedication. I’d rather go down with the ship than just blindly boycott for a moment HOPING that the devs would change something.
Sorry. It’s a bit of a long and negative post… But it’s what I perceive to be bitter truth. Maybe I’m wrong. I’m always open to being proven wrong. The hardest part is the proving.
