Can someone please explain to me why it matters whos in the middle when im forming a team?

Whoever is in the middle will tank their colors if there is a tie between any of the characters. So if you have a squishy character that you’d rather not expose to attack when matching their color who also has the exact same damage per match for that color you’d put the squishy on the left and the character you want tanking in the middle.
Example - I have Classic Storm and Magneto Marvel Now both in a lineup leveled in such a way that they both do exactly 50 points of match damage per blue tile. I want Mags to move to the front when making blue matches to limit Storm from damage so I place her in the left while keeping Mags in the middle.

Actually you’d put the squishy guy on the right because the order is middle-left-right when it comes to tiebreakers.
