Since the vault system was implemented for ddq, I have opened exactly 6 vault tokens. In each case i was running low healthpacks during a key pve or PvP push. I opened tacos until I got 5x health packs and then stopped.
I see no value in actually trying to get 4*s from the vault as the odds are terrible until you get more than 100 tacos saved.
The only downside is that I don’t get the expected HP income from tacos, but I am still HP positive so long as I don’t shield too much in PvP.
Is anyone else using tacos like this? Is the the intent of the system? An unintended consequence? Is it good or bad for the game?
Well, at last count I have 128 health packs after using 20+ in the past week or so, so yeah, I’d say so.
Personally, based primarily on D3’s continued insistence on not having a separation between earned and regenerated HPs, I’d much rather just open my 2*, sell it, and move on…
The health packs is one reason Im hesitant to open tacos, and not looking forward to doing it. I generally dont need HPs, if I run through all 10…Im not playing well or have been playing too long. So having 30+ HP sitting there…will annoy the snot out of me because I wont be regening any and Ill be pissed that Im going through my stockpile. I like the idea of banked vs regen HP, but maybe they should just get pulled from prizes all together.
I end up with health packs from Taco tokens more often than I’d like.
Frankly I’d rather have a duplicate 2* cover to sell for ISO than have health packs. Health packs are free and they regenerate every 35mins (or something like that), rarely am I playing for such a long time, or so badly that I find myself using 10 health packs and running dry.
I’m now incentivised to plan opening my Taco tokens around when I’m either empty on health packs (as I said, rarely) or completely full on healthpacks otherwise it’s just a waste of a token. Then if I am completely full on healthpacks when I pick up spares I’m put in a position where if I use the healthpack when I’m not in an end of event grind down or climb that healthpack is effectively wasted.
Try having 78! I had 4 Blue SW in my vault so I opened my 60 tokens.. yeah I currently have 78 healthpacks. I haven’t started SHIELD SIM so I think I’m just going to plow through it to earn Ant-Man
The healthpacks have actually caused me to pull from the vault -less-, as I now don’t pull unless I need healthpacks to finish a clear, because the chances on a 3 star are low enough that it doesn’t help my transition, and even if I did pull one instead of healthpacks, I can always use those, where as when I pull healthpacks while I already have 2-10 they’re just wasted.
Taco Healthpacks are a godsend for crazy PVE grinders. When you are trying to hit all nodes 6 times in as little time as possible, using any teams beyond your A teams can waste time, and you will eventually have a bad cascade or two that hurt the health reserves. For me, the best rewards from tacos are :
That’s the point: The marginal value of going 10-15 On healthpacks is minimal.
But the marginal value of going 0-5 is significant if, for example, it lets you finish a pve clear or play one more PvP match before shielding.
And since health packs are a pretty common reward from tacos, it’s just one more incentive to stockpile.
I though the point of the vault was to keep up from stockpiling tokens for 30 days and dropping them all during the iron fist week.
But the result is that I am stockpiling more than ever, and only opening occasionally when I need extra health for a PvP push (since tacos are cheaper than extra shields).
I don’t pay any attention to the 4*s or the hp in the vaults at all.
Basically, I think the vault system is fine in theory, but the vault rewards as currently implemented are complete tinykitty.
I like to think of the Taco vaults as the Health Pack Emporium that sometimes is stingy or confused and gives me useless 3* and 2* covers, sometimes some ISO, and rarely some HP (hit the 1k a few times though), and once (only once in 100+ tokens) a useful 4* before it finally gets my order right and tosses me some much needed Health Packs.
I do find it funny that I’ll use the tokens hoping expressly for health packs and if I get the 250 HP prize, I won’t use it to buy health packs, I’ll just crack another token.
Never thought to do this, partly because I love to open packs as I get them.
Since I don’t really need that many 3* covers I think ill start hoarding just for the health packs when needed.
Thanks
I would say it’s had the opposite effect of it’s intention where I will not open tacos unless I need
or else I could end up with 30 of them, that has happened. You end up waiting for 6hrs instead of using them if a PVP is not currently ending
They really ought to just make a separate health pack vault token earned as low-level pve / pvp rewards, instead of diluting the standard pool with them. They should also cut down on the 2*'s from 15 copies each to 3 copies each. I think changing those two things would make the vault feel a lot more fair.
