Things were better 6 months ago.
The events are far less generous in terms of prizes now, and they revolve more around being awake in time for the final respawn and playing fast (which, admittedly, is better than being awake and playing fast for BOTH the first and last respawns of events, as was the case a few months ago). Also, for no reason anyone can fathom, they give us, like, 4 brand new events in a single week when a new set comes out, which is way too much deckbuilding for anyone to have much fun with, and then just repeat the same events over and over again unaltered.
They never expanded the Color Mastery system.. Platinum Tier got very crowded, with 3000+ players crammed into one bracket. Come to think of it they never raised the level cap on planeswalkers either.
Planeswalker design has taken a turn for the worse, with mana gains increasing, forcing older planeswalkers into obselescence, and new abilities largely limited to mechanics from the latest set.
Power Creep is rampant… KLD seemed to be a step down in power from SOI, but apparently they were saving all the really broken stuff for AER. It doesn’t look like they’re ever going to rebalance a card ever again. One of the recent objectives in a PvE level was to kill an opponent with 400 life in 4 turns. This was intentional.
They’ve changed how hexproof works 4 times. Sometimes, they’ll change how objective counters for events work in the middle of events without telling us, just to keep us on our toes.
Deck save slots ‘should be in-game within the next few months’! You can imagine our excitement. No sign of real PvP yet.
The icons on the user interface are white now. The buttons have changed. But it’s still really hard to scroll from one end of the planeswalker menu to the other.
Drop rates don’t seem to have gotten worse, so that’s something. They are really bad tho. There’s about a 50% chance that a Big Box will contain no mythics.
On the other hand, we did quite like the one-day Halloween and Valentine’s Day events.
