Of course they had to put in Kamala rewards. sigh
I suppose more Kamala covers is better than multiple 10-packs at the end of the season…
Nice to see green easily obtainable though.
My first real opponent after clearing the canned fighters was Xforce/N Fury/ Iron Man all maxed for 42 points. What’s up DP3? I can beat these teams but not without taking some attrition on my characters. Even skipping I’m getting pretty much maxed 3* teams for 14 points when I have 112 points. When IM hits your X-Force for 7000+ damage just before you close the deal you burn through a lot of health packs. Why is this being tested in season? Could we have skipped one of the gimick modes and ran this last Monday When it Didn’t matter? How are the 2* teams doing? I doubt this change will help them over the hump. DP3 should just of decreased their points deducted when a 3*+ team hits a 2* team to under 5 points and moved on.
2 * team player here. I’ve found the new matchmaking algorithm to be very kind. I’m currently at 460 and still have 2* team targets for around 20 available, and even get some < 94 teams.
Obviously all the changes are aimed at the new players, maybe telemetry tells them that’s where the money is? (although I very much doubt it). Veterans have to either fight it to the death in the grindfest that PVP has become, or leave. Thank you very much Demiurge.
Dude, you’re dumb. I invested heavily in the game expecting an easier time and a funner experience as a payout for my efforts. The experience this new shitty system offers is nowhere near my notion of fun. Looks like Demiurge caters to the S&M crowd; no wonder so many people are leaving or thinking of leaving.
I haven’t seen a 2* team in PVP in 6 or 7 seasons.
However, I have seen unmaxed 3* teams below 600.
Vets have to fight each other past 700 anyway, used to be at least the climb to get there was bearable.
Imagine fighting teams of your strongest char all the way from 25 points. If you enjoy that, great. Most of us don’t want to slog through Xfood from 25 to 1K.
This is the first time they are doing this new assigning of battles but after getting to 200 points, I’m already facing maxed out IM40, Lady Thor & X-Force. I have an OK roster with one maxed out character (Mohawk Storm) and a few others in the mid to low-100’s. I’m sure it’ll hash itself out eventually.
Just jumped in.
(For reference, my highest character is 220 XForce followed by a handful of 166s and IM40 at 130)
Beat the first seed team and that node was replaced by 290 IM40, 166 Steve and 270 XForce
Second seed team replaced by 152 IM40, 166 Hood and 262 XForce
Third seed team replaced by 166 IM40, 166 Hood and 270 XForce
So I’m more or less seeing what I used to run into around 600 pts…but at 70 points.
Is this how it’s supposed to work now? Is this good or bad? I don’t know whether I’m supposed to be outraged until someone on the internet tells me how to feel.
[FYI: I already miss the diversity of the randomly boosted characters in PVP. Looks like we’re back to 166 Hood and 270 XForce in almost every node, until 4hor shows up. Super boring, bro.]
It seems to me that the new MMR system has segregated the 2* players from 3/4* players. Otherwise how can I explain seeing a 200+IM and max xf/laken team on my third match (first 2 being gimme seed teams)? I’ve grinded/retal’ed my way to break 300 so far, and haven’t seen a 2* team yet. I’m not saying it’s necessarily a bad thing, but it’s going to require a rethinking on my strategy to push up the bracket. Possibilities include jumping in on day 3, shielding after every push, and buying heal packs (i.e. push in 10 pack increments, where I would keep attacking until I use up my 10 health packs). Thankfully I already have all 3 kamala covers, so if my in-event tinkering bombs out I won’t get screwed over too badly.
Umm think for a second, although I know it must be hard for people who are not used to it…
if 2*'s owners start winning 3* covers without even having to fight 3*s, they will quite fast be in the position where “vets” are right now - which in plain terms is “shafted”
Current 2s go to 3s status and only fight 3s and cannot again win anything - this way this would be the only game known to mankind, where winning stuff and increasing your “power rating” means that you will just be doing way worse in the future - the bigger and better roster you have, the harder it is for you to get good placement and earn progression in PvP (sharding+only being matched with 3s + 4’s) or good placement in PvP (due to sharding+scaling)… does this make any sense?
After playing some more I am currently sitting at ~600 and I don’t plan shielding for the night. All I see at this point is XF/Loki/Hood/CMags/LThor. So much for variety. I will probably use 2 shields and try for top 25. The way i see it, the new MMR system they introduced will offer an illusion of easy progress to new players who will end up with a ton of covers, but no ISO. And once the bait is set, they will wait for the victims/players in the store where they will have to spend a couple hundred dollars to level 1 character. I wouldn’t rule out a sale in the next 1-2 months just to make the illusion more appealing. After all, even in a sale these prices are a ripoff. In 2-3 months, once the illusion has faded, these players will find themselves in our place, bitching and moaning about the nonexistent progress beyond 3*.
I don’t know why people are so upset about these changes. It’s their game, their property. Just let them do what they want with the game. It’s not like most of us have spent so much in the game. I will just not bother anymore with suggestion about how to make the game better or more fair. If they don’t care, why should I? Spending money on shields/covers/ISO is a waste. Better make a contribution to an healthcare institute or something like that. It’s good for the soul and your wallet.
If some want to spend a small fortune because they are swimming in money, or because they are just dumb, who are we to say to them “Don’t”? The best answer to a change you don’t like is stop paying for a dumb match-3 game. The only thing I am upset about is that the strategy “Join late and do a a decent last minute push for a top 25-50” doesn’t seem to work after the recent changes if you land in a bracket which has been open for some time. I will continue playing as a F2P player because I see the game only as a distraction; nothing more. I left for 7 months (July-Feb) because the game was no more fun and with the summer around the corner I will probably do the same this year.
@Narkon. I hope you change your mind and shield, b/c it seems at the higher scores the “chinese wall” segregating 2* from 3/4* players are broken. 600 points will probably put you in top 10 currently. At a certain point the new MMR seems to break down and you’ll be engaged in a free for all.
Interestingly, after I pushed to top 20ish in my bracket (~400 points) I stopped seeing max rosters. While I’m still not seeing 2* matchups, I’m seeing VERY unleveled defensive teams. In other words, the push seems easier after breaking through the artificial wall. An IM40 w/ 4-5k health? Dinner time!
