Captain Marvel is surprisingly good, especially with 5 yellow covers to generate red and black ap. I don’t know about anyone else, but I’m happy getting to complete her.
Haven’t read her thread recently, but fairly sure her ideal build is 3/5/5, so i’m cool with this.
I think she’s fine, but I (and I’m guess Dr. U as well) have her fully covered, and have for a while. So it’s great that there are covers available for people who need them. I personally don’t so I won’t have to push too hard for this, which is why many people end up excited. However, I’ll still probably aim for top 5/10 purely because unneeded covers turn into
, even if they end up depriving others of those covers, which is an unfortunate circumstance, but so it goes.
I understand that some (probably a fair few) people have her cover maxed, but Doc-U said that she was a “terrible” reward.. “A reward I don’t need” isn’t the same thing as “terrible” so I felt the inexplicable need to step up for Captainpants’ defense.
Hulk isn’t good for ap generation. He’s good because Anger turns strike tiles into a nightmare. And a huge health pool. You shouldn’t bring Hulk in expecting to use him to gain green.
What Spoit said just set up a team so Hulk also tanks say blue or purple or even both of them and watch the green AP fall from the sky. He is normally a member of a couple of node teams in those events that have a huge number of nodes per sub.
Strike tiles enhance the Anger damage though. Patch and Hulk can flatten most nodes with little difficulty since there just isn’t anything left of the enemy once Hulk’s Anger has run its course.
If you’re pairing her with Xforce for the black generation, you may as well go 5/3/5 and use her as a cheap way to use any Red you get from SSing 4hor.
But generally, yes, 3/5/5 is her most useful build. It’s just a shame black went from a completely terrible color when she was first released (No Blade, Colossus, Mystique, Gamora, no remade Xforce) to a very hotly contested color. Before, all she really had to compete with for black were Black Panther and Punisher.
Her yellow is her best ability, but it can be surprisingly difficult to proc, requiring 695 damage to get her proc off.
That’s 121 more damage than is required to proc Hulk’s Anger. And she has almost 3000 less health.
She has to take a beating to be worth anything, but she has to take a bigger beating with less of a health pool than the character everyone is calling overrated and talking about how easy it is to avoid procing his anger.
It seems weird, but that extra hundred or so damage to trigger really does make a difference in procs. Though on the plus side, her proc is instant, so even if she dies, you still get the AP from everything except for the last move
I have had good use for Photonic Blasts on occasion. The problem is it is a very niche move and Loki and Daredevil can fill that niche just as well most of the time.
