Like, I know the first order of precedence is character level. My Lv94s 2* appear to be arranged alphabetically, but my Lv104 3* are all over the place.
I thought it might be number of covers, with Captain America coming before Spider-Man (my two 12-cover 3*), and my 10-cover 3’s following that pattern also. But then I see Colossus and his nine covers chilling between Magneto (nine covers) and Luke Cage (nine covers), and Punisher (Lv102, 8 covers) coming after Black Panther (Lv102, 7 covers).
I looked at Colossus, Luke Cage and Magneto, and Magneto’s soft cap is Lv117, where both Colossus and Luke Cage have soft caps of 114, so I figure THAT’S a sorting mechanism of some kind, but the aforementioned Punisher and Panther both have soft caps of 102, and are both AT 102.
Every theory I can come up with for how the game is sorting people works fine up until I hit Punisher and Black Panther. They’re breaking my model and I can’t figure out why.
If you actually read my post and not just the title, you might realize that, no, it doesn’t work that way uniformly, and I’m seeking input as to what might be causing that difference.
I mean, unless the alphabet was shuffled so that C comes after M now, in which case, hey.
The problem is that the alphabetical sorting rule works for Panther/Punisher but it doesn’t work to explain Colossus being between Magneto and Luke Cage. They have the same levels and same number of covers, which I’d think would trigger A-Z sorting, but it isn’t doing so.
If magneto is lv117 he will obviously come before the colossus and luke as they are 114. Because C comes before L colossus is between magneto and luke. If they were all same level then the number of covers would take place and if they all have same level AND same number of covers, then alphabetically.
As far as I can tell the filters are, in order:
level
rarity
total covers
alphabetical order
So even with 3 covers a lv94 carnage will be ahead of a 3* fully covered at same level, and both ahead a 2* also fully covered lv94. At first I used to leave my 3* I used most on lv95 so it was easier to pick them and leave the rest at 94.
That last statement is not true. My 1/2/1 level 94 Kingpin is sorted after my 7 maxed 2*s. I always assumed it was level, number of covers, then alphabetical, but your BP Pun example messes that up. Your soft cap idea sounded possible, but my level 120s doesn’t support it. Here is the order they appear for me in character - covers - soft cap:
Beast - 13 - 166
Captain Marvel - 13 - 166
Colossus - 13 - 166
Doc Ock - 13 - 166
Psylocke - 13 - 166
Quicksilver - 13 - 166
Rags - 13 - 166
Devil Dino - 12 - 250
IM40 - 12 - 153
Bullseye - 11 - 142
Vision - 11 - 140
Star-Lord - 10 - 209
Elektra - 7 - 152
Carnage - 6 - 131
Prof X - 6 - 131
I thought that this was almost correct but in stead of total covers they are sorted on highest possible level (Level Max if you look in your Roster and tap on a character). I can’t say for sure though, it seems to hold for my own roster in any case, but of course I could be wrong.
Rare characters are just regular new 3* characters that are released and gold characters are “lazy” characters that are almost identical to their 1* or 2* versions just with a different skin and higher level.
The last gold we got was Mohawk Storm and it looks like they may be done with the “lazy” characters since 3* Bullseye was an almost completely different build except for his green.
I think golds have the same skills as a 1 or 2 star counterparts (2* Thor, 2* Cap, 2* Daken, 1* Storm). Rares can be the same character, but have different skill (2* Black Widow has no sniper rifle, for example).
Gold shouldn’t be distinct from Rare, otherwise they’d be segregated. Out of the 4 golds, I’ve only maxed out Cap, Daken, and Thor. Cap and Daken are between Blade and Deadpool, while Thor is between Punisher and Wolverine.
I just looked and it appears exactly as your screenshot says. They switched when i brought doom to 1 iso short of leveling him. Was trigger happy with some iso, so was going to bring him and thor to 166 (2 man rainbow team), but decided against it at the last minute and brought a mess of others to 140.
Wonder if the amount needed to level had anything to do with them switching spots
Neat, so hopefully for those of us who purposefully keep heroes underlevelled, we can sort them by putting varying amount of iso into them before their next level. Thanks for the research! Am going to try this later tonight.
