I’ve noticed how to get to 40 wins I have to club baby seal teams (4* teams), mostly for 10-30 points max. It’s pretty efficient with Panther and Thanos, but curious how the baby seals feel about it? Do you still enjoy 40 wins over 1200 progression rewards?
I bet noob that some of them have given up on the 40 wins becaus it is a lot harder than they thought. The test was only during offseason when some don’t play and gimmick pvp events not a 28 day grind fest.
As one of those baby seals I have zero problem being clubbed because I don’t care about scores (I average 600ish) since at best I am a T50 player if I luck into an easy bracket (and T100 if I don’t). Also, I join the season after the first event completes so I’m always in an easy season bracket (one where 4000 points will be a T25 season scorer).
On the other hand what I do hate is when MMR doesn’t seem to factor in boosted levels so that on weeks when none of my 10 4* champs is boosted it’s annoying to constantly be shown 2 boosted 4* rosters to fight that are 100+ levels above my 2 highest characters which equals 0% chance to beat such teams. If MMR would factor in boosted characters this new change would be fine by me.
Change of subject for real. How do you feel about the win based system? Does it feel like a grind or do you feel you are playing about the same amount of time?? Have you gone through sim to get the 4* cover or do the wins seem like a lot to try and the cover??
Real questions looking for different opinions
I should note, it seems I’m hitting those baby seals as they are trying to hop, it’s why I wonder how it’s working out for them. Those that don’t care about score clearly won’t care…
Barely legal 4*s here (sub 300) and win based is working for me–for the most part. Seems a bit grindy, especially with PvE being in grind overkill.
As to the original post, I don’t much care if I get clubbed; I’m placing the same as I used to before (T100 or so) and I’m getting the full progression.
Prior to this with my limited high end roster (10 4* champs) I typically joined about 2 hrs prior to an event ending and then raced as fast as possible to the 575 reward (10 cp) at which point I’d stop and take whatever reward I got for placement (on occasion with the right boosted characters I can get into the 700 range and once I managed 800 doing this).
Now I join typically 1-2 days prior and do 16 wins for 10 cp (1-2 hrs worth while watching World Series/Football etc). Those tend to be easy to get before MMR hell strikes for me (all boosted 4* teams regardless of whether any of my champs are boosted). Then I wait 24 hrs and make a final push to 20-28 wins depending on my boosted characters.
So it will be double the amount of time for me to hit say 24-28 wins and I’d guess triple time to get 40 (I got Teen Jean during the test). Of course I didn’t often get that reward before so my guess might be off a bit time wise.
Simulator wise I did 24 wins this weekend over a couple hrs watching the World Series. That netted me 1350 points. So that says I used to take 24 wins to get me roughly 1350 points. Now the hard part begins to amass 50 more which was the hard part before too because MMR teams make things really hard after about 1400 points. Still I am guessing it’s going to take about 1/3 more wins (74 instead of what I imagine was about 50 last season based on 24=1350 before losses start to add up).
Well, I used to hit 900 about half the time and spend 600 HP to get there, now I get my 40 wins every time, free of cost. Can’t say I even notice how often I get hit because why would I care?
A guaranteed 4* cover is pretty cool. 40 wins? Ehhh.
The old PVP format I would play until 575, get 10 CP. then quit. Not guaranteed, but halfway to any 4* and even a chance at 5*.
On one hand, you have a guaranteed 4* regardless of how many times you’re hit so long as you get 40 wins. This is excellent for players with less than robust rosters.
On the other hand, those that have excellent rosters, this is a nerf to the previous system since CP is the most valuable currency in the game.
I don’t have a dog in this fight. I am for and against the change. It’s harder for me (I never had trouble getting to 575) but it does make it better to new players without Champed 4* and 5*.
It takes a while to get there, but I can do it at my own pace, and even tho I’m getting hit somewhat more, I’m still placing t100, so it’s been totally positive for me.
Reading some of the responses, I’m not really surprised that the lower level rosters enjoy a clearer path to a 4*. It makes sense after all, and if you were only getting 600 before then who cares? Once I get to the point where I’m hitting “seals” they are generally only worth 5 points and I doubt it affects them much.
That said, an interesting point was mentioned by several people. You were struggling to get rewards and spending 600hp to get 900 points and a 4*. Now you are getting this without spending…anything.
Would you say that the new system has also led to You spending more money on the game or less. Do you completely dispense with shielding now?
I never shielded before, so it doesn’t really make a difference there. I used to just make one climb to 575 or 650, and then just let my score settle where it would.
