Example: I made a match 5 (l-shape) so that the tiles are about to drop in this situation:
B=Blue, C=Critical, E=Environmental, H-Hole in the board (tiles are falling into it). Dashes are redundant tiles that don’t create matches.
E -
C -
H -
H -
B H B
E -
The tiles will drop into this 3x3 pattern:
E -
BCB
E -
Blue got the critical boost on the damage, while environment matched but got normal amount of AP. I made the match 5 to try and get the critical to trigger the Environment for a Forest Fire. What made Blue get the boost?
For what it’s worth, both Environment and Blue tiles were Magneto matches, so he handled both of them.
should be damage priority, environmental is ALWAYS last which is annoying when you want to match a crit to an environment tile (usually game over when that happens)
I don’t think its damage priority, as I often have a critical tile that could match two ways with colours and for some reason it picks the much smaller damage.
Can be the difference between a kill and a whole lot of damage coming back at you
Just had this happen in the Containment Breach stage: (Y = Yellow)
E E C
Y
Y
The critical boost went to the Environmental tiles (had 203 AP, so I’m positive). However, this time Thor owned Yellow and Magneto owned Environmentals. Now I have no idea.
I believe it is just a sequential check - Horizontal matches have preference over vertical ones. I have seen this play out in many situations. I am less clear on whether a left match has priority over a right mathc or up over down (relative to the critical tile). Personally, I’m annoyed that we don’t get critical damage on all matches with the critical tile.
From my observations, it appears to resolve matches from left to right, top to bottom. But I haven’t really thoroughly investigated it, just appears to be case to me.
