I was struck by a realization not too long ago that I’m on a fast-track to “beating” MPQ.
And by beating, obviously, I mean earning every character in the game (that counts–looking at you Devil Dinosaur) and maxing them out.
About four months ago for a three-month lull I had absolutely no progression in my roster while doing some reforming, getting rid of 3’s I’d never get the covers for, and regaining my 1’s while building my 2’s.
Then it hit me: “Duh, the game cascades upon itself.” Which is nothing new for anybody who has read the tips and guides section of the forum. “1’s get you 2’s, 2’s get you 3’s,” so on. Duh.
What struck me about that is how quickly one goes about leveling up characters and earning new ones with simple regular daily play.
It took me a year to earn and near-max every 1- and 2-star character in the game.
In all honesty, it should only take a fresh start-up six months to max their 1-stars and get every 2- while being near to maxing out a few of them–laying the groundwork to quickly max out the other 2’s.
What I’m getting at is that the rewards to snowball, and leveling up characters gets easier and easier the stronger you get. Eventually one should probably be able to level up a whole three 3-stars with all the ISO-8 rewards and sold covers per season at that level, shouldn’t one? And chocking (chalk-ing not choke-ing) it up to luck, 4-stars come around enough every now and again through packs that you can actually kind of depend on them (at least to me) and not have to worry about finishing #1 in everything (unless it’s for the Goddess of Thunder-- I fear the cans of butt-whup that are going to be opened in Season VII for the right to wield her unmerciful doomy … doom-bringing power).
Since it’s just a matter of time until we (semi-MPQ-vets) all have all (current roster) covers and all of them maxed, what will/would you all do once you’ve done almost literally everything there is to do in the game?
I’m not sure if this game would be fun anymore if there weren’t anybody to beat, and instead I was the one to beat.
Okay. I might have a little fun defeating EVERY other single player in MPQ, not counting other maxed players. (Elite league anyone?)
But anyway …
What do you envision yourself doing once you topple those who sit above?
Me? Probably just play for rewards and then just kind of stop until something new comes up. And then stop again. Actually, come to think of it, that’s more or less exactly what every literal big-wick in the comics do as well: NOTHING. Until there is something until there is nothing again.
I just don’t like thinking of the days where I don’t have somebody bigger and badder to beat. Sure, Wolverine, IW, and NF could end worlds, but that’s only if you let them get the AP; and there are boosts (lots of boosts) for that. (“I can beat a 4-star … once … with 3+ all with 3+ ![]()
and ![]()
and probably 125% crit boost with Storm, Magneto, and whoever-else.”)
Thank heavens this game is only in its first of hopefully many years of development. Perhaps by the time I max my roster, and for all players with maxed rosters, there will be new options of gameplay available only to them to battle amongst each other (elite league, 5-star characters, 3-stars become the new 1-stars; second game–let’s do this).
Those are my thoughts. I just wanted to share my angst of thinking about what I will do if I don’t have MPQ on my daily list of things to do.
KEEP ME OCCUPIED, D3P! Please? Like, seriously. Pretty please? I already go outside, I depend on you all to veg when I’m not being a contributing member of society. Don’t make me contribute more than I have to, D3P, due to excessive boredom. I’m counting on you to make me make sure that outside of prescribed hours no one can count on me. Don’t let me not let people down on my downtime. That is all. Thank you.
