At v 2.1, dev can control the card sets used in each event deck. This rule can be used to create pre-release event.
My idea is :
A paid event cost 600 crystal. Everyone get two premium packs and a premium promo card. Player can only use these cards to build event decks. (Not boosters or super packs. Rare cards will become too powerful if there is no guarantee rare for everyone.)
Assign the same planeswalker to everyone for this event. He is a LV 60 planeswalker without any constraint on deck building. (He can use cards from all color and the maximum capacity for each card type is 10)
Dev need to prepare some prebuild decks under the same conditions to make sure no one against pig at first round
With 10 card decks the release event performance would very much come down to who opens what mythic. While this is somewhat similar to the paper game’s limited event, at least then you are opening close to 100 cards and are less affected by variance there.
Sealed pools would be kinda cool but it would need to have some guarantees on what kinds of cards are going to be given out. A tricky problem for sure
I love this idea.. but I don’t know that you use all colors or have a set pw… Use the colors you want and the pw you want. Perhaps do a special to get 3 premiums for 600 crystals.. so you can get 77 cards to pick from.
I’m not sure if you will get enough players for something like that.
Besides that, I think that cards are restricted for an event, not for an individual player.
If they like that idea though, 2.1 will be way to soon for that, I guess.
That’s a really interesting idea. And I’m not worried about a lack of interest. I’m sure we could rustle up at few platinum players between the major coalitions. The suggested fee for entry is a bit steep though.
Are smaller pools a bad thing though? I can’t be the only one that gets a thrill when I’m matched against someone I know! Heck, I got a kick out of seeing your names on the leaderboards
As long as the prizes are fairly evenly distributed this doesn’t really matter. Nobody should really complain if losing to a mythic cost them a pack for example. Plus, it gives newer players a chance to stomp people if they get a mythic, which is always fun.
