I’ve been trying for days now to get my alliance to join LINE, but all of them, with the exception of one person whose phone number I actually have, are being a-holes about it.

I wouldn’t have to do this if the in-game chat on MPQ wasn’t so terrible.

These are the features we need:

Private Messaging (alliance members only, otherwise we’d all cyber-bully the whales until they stopped winning all our prizes)
Auto-correct and predictive text support (it’s awful typing on a tiny iPhone without that feature that fixes your typos)
Active notifications (so when I try to tell my alliance something, half of them don’t miss it)

Basically, if you’re running a multiplayer game, you need communication.

the keyboard integration (on iOS anyway) is weak, the history is too short, and the lack of private channels is rough to overcome.

If you are the commander of this alliance of a-holes you could kick them and tell new players that line use is a requirement? (Unless they are winning and you don’t want to disrupt the flow of rewards to enhance the social aspect - which is a factor.)
