So I have in hand Avacyn’s Judgment, and cast Magmatic Insight or Lightning Axe, and after they resolve my Avacyn’s Judgment doesnt gain any mana from the discards. Also at the beginning of my turn I randomly sometimes get mana to madness cards. Can someone explain how Madness is suppose to work?
Casting a card doesn’t trigger madness. Things like Liliana’s first ability forcing you to discard cards triggers madness. It doesn’t have to be an opponent’s effect either. You can use the new way Sphinx’s Tutelage works (activate 1 blue to discard last card in hand) and trigger madness to your other cards in hand.
Doesnt Lightning Axe make u discard?

If anyone finds any red cards that “proc” the madness on Avacyn’s Judgement let me know plz. Cuz Lightning Axe and Magmatic Insight dont do it right now..
You’re right. I was focusing on the casting of the cards without taking into consideration the discard effect as part of the costs. Those 2 cards should trigger madness on other cards. UNLESS the devs intended madness to only occur when an opponent forces the discard.
That would be an even more insane design change than the unlinking of devoid and colorlessness.
Lightning Axe seems to work sometimes now. But Magmatic Insight hasnt yet.
Well, there have been some pretty bad decisions coming out of the devs lately, so who knows…
Ok after further testing, the Madness does proc on Malevolent Whispers from Lightning Axe and Magmatic Insight discard effects, but they do not affect the madness on Avacyn’s Judgement . Devs plz fix Avacyn’s Judgement thx!
