Jumped the shark is a Hollywood term created from the show happy days. They had Fonsie jump over a shark in an episode and after that the show went seriously down hill. Now if a show does an episode wher the do something way out of the ordinary like go to Hawaii, or something stupid they call it jumping the shark.
