Kari Zev and Drana

Question - Both these cards have a +/+ upon attack (Kari) or damage (Drana). Drana’s ability works with double attack but Kari’s does not appear to.

Is this a bug or working as intended due to the way the game rules are applied for attack vs. damage? Example used is with Uncaged Fury. If not a bug, I suppose the conclusion is that double strike is not counted as an attack.

As far as I can tell, Kari Zev’s functionally an attack phase trigger rather than an attack trigger. She gets +2/+1 when going to combat phase (if not disabled) prior to any attacking. This is to mimic the card effect which has it spawn a 2/1 legendary monkey token when she’s tapped to attack (but in paper, this 2/1 actually goes away after the attack whereas here it’s a persistent buff).

So I think it’s actually in line with the flavor of the card, but maybe a little misleading wording.

The verbiage on the cards is not the same.

Drana’s ability triggers when she deals damage to a planeswalker. So it happens twice with double strike, but not at all if she’s blocked, and not till after she has finished attacking.

Kari’s ability triggers when she attacks so she’ll have +2/+1 before she deals damage, and gets it even if blocked. I think the confusion here is that double strike is not considered attacking twice. It’s still one attack that hits twice.

Thanks for the information. I never realised Drana’s ability process 2x for double strikes. I will use her in my Sarkan deck now.
