The Vanguard Karn, the Great Creator says “While this support is on the board, your opponnent can’t cast Artifact supports and all your opponent’s Artifact creatures on the battlefield are Disabled”, however going against the enemy Cataclysmic Gearhulk in the Fateful Showdown event, my opponent’s Thopters were never disabled, and it was able to cast Deadlock Trap, an artifact support.
He was also able to repeatedly cast Cataclysmic Gearhulk (the card, which should be an artifact) and trigger its enter-the-battlefield effect; since the game is inconsistent about how disable-creature effects interact with ETB effects, I’m not sure if that’s a bug or not.
It seems possible that the cards (and Thopter tokens) in the Gearhulk’s deck are somehow missing the “Artifact” tag.
