How long can I play without updating? On a kindle
I think this is the information you are after?
I’m still playing on it and it works fine. I know
Thanks. I hate playing on a laptop. ![]()
AFAIK they have never abandoned a platform before. So it’s hard to know when it’ll stop working altogether.
The game ran for like 3 months without any updates and everyone was fine. However, the pass seems to be linked pretty heavily to the current update so it’s possible that as of tomorrow the pass won’t work for people who haven’t updated or at least for Kindle folks.
If one’s goal is just “play MPQ in some capacity” it might be possible for months on Kindle. If you want full access to all rewards and features I am guessing that ends soon.
My access to the game ended yesterday. Like, I was able to bypass the “update is available” screen yesterday AM, but when I tried to log in later, I couldn’t–the game is greyed out behind the useless “update is available” window.
This makes some sense because the season stuff got messed up with the R341 release which they said necessitated a force update situation.
Players who like to wait to update were forced to do so.
I’m sorry you lost access to the game on your device.
Luckily, I was saving that account using a different backup (FB, as opposed to Google), so I can load it onto my small phone. Not great, but hey, it’s there!
I migrated to steam. Its . . . a different experience, to say the least. All that muscle memory from tapping on the kindle is useless on the computer.
I know. Its so satisfying. Don’t think I’d play with a mouse lol
Yeah, my micro has become terrible for anything that isn’t jamming the ESC key.
Some observations from a mildly competitive PVE-er:
-
Having the Start Fight Button on the team select screen be in a different place than the Node select confirmation button is a thought crime. I was so used to just jamming from node confirm to fight start that having to move the cursor from mid center to lower right makes it feel so much slower getting past the roster screen.
-
The in-fight power interface is so much worse on Steam. On mobile, you can easily see how close to being able to fire powers EVERYONE is at a glance vs needing to click a tab to even see which powers are up for a single character based on a flashing icon. Not to mention the small, white, text bubble description pop up telling you the details of the power vs a nice, large, well formatted window on mobile. Thankfully, I know my teams well enough already to not really need to use these references, but It feels like trying out new characters is going to be rough.

The most frustrating difference for me has to be that the play-field background is transparent. Based on the background, certain tile colors just disappear when I’m scanning for matches. This is not a problem on mobile as the background is a fixed, neutral color every stage. Now, my brain has to parse that the background is a little greener near the top instead of the bluer it was on the left side of the field just a node or two ago and those green tiles I’m looking to match are less visible. In situations where speed is a factor, this inconsistency is frustrating.
Thankfully, I can mitigate some of this by just starting my final pass a little earlier because as a mildly competitive PVE-er I’m not striving for top of the heap . . . just somewhere in the upper pile.
Someone was telling me that they did it because they couldn’t get the store to work so they weren’t making money of Kindle players. Pretty dirty but makes good business sense
And mine has always worked fine up until the other day![]()

Yeah, if you peruse the board you can find the discussion on Unity’s unannounced decision to kill the Amazon Appstore’s API integration for everyone, not just MPQ who had juuust made the switch over. So, after nearly 8 months with no solution in sight from Unity and literally no way to make money from Kindle players, it makes business sense to sunset that version as it is just a fiscal dead end.
Are they qualified for their jobs? I’m just saying, how could they not get it to work in that amount of time? Seems like some shady backdoor business or something. because they still seem to be fumbling, it might be on purpose
How could they not get what to work? The API that was removed by the engine they use and have no control over?
That’s not on them. That’s Unity dropping Amazon Kindle. Completely out of their hands.
If you meant anything else, well, yeah, there’s a point there.
Did Unity (a different company) stop supporting Kindle In App Purchases (IAP)?
Were Kindle devices a small percentage of the MPQ share?
Is the IP2 Development Team on the smaller side?
Could they get in IAP working with a custom Amazon software, with a lot of extra effort?
The answer to all of those questions is “Yes”
Analogy: Imagine you went to your locally owned General Motors car dealership, and called them “dirty” and “not qualified” because you could no longer buy a new Saturn/Saab/Pontiac (discontinued brands)
It’s not the dealerships fault that the those brands are no longer made/supported.
Could they piece together a “new” car from parts? Yes, but that is a lot of effort.
If Kindle was making millions every year, they would figure something out. So Yes, it is about money.
They announced it (not in game) and offered up an alternative vehicle (Steam)
I am pretty certain you could also transfer a Kindle account to Android or iOS with CS.
Most people with a Kindle probably have a PC and could play on Steam but that’s just one option.
I get it a sinking ship. But they tried and failed, so they gave up because they’re not qualified for that job
I get it. Its not worth the money. But the point being, are they even qualified if they tried for months and couldn’t do it?
I have. Just seems weird they worked on it for months and couldn’t get it to work. Brings up their qualifications. Are they even qualified for their jobs?
