Koth flips Thaumatic Compass too soon [Investigating]

Was testing some decks in TG and came across an odd outcome. Thaumatic Compass is only supposed to flip if you have 8 or more of one of your PW’s colors on the board. With Koth, that can only be red. I cast Thaumatic Compass and it flipped immediately even though I only had four red gems on the board.

No idea how this could happen. My opponent was R/B Sarkhan - perhaps it’s possible Compass was looking at either red and black gems instead of just red?

Probably. There are a bunch of effects that read “your PW color” that instead work off of your opponent’s colors (sometimes also yours too)

Its usually subtle enough that its hard to notice and report, though. Its been a bug at least since Ixalan came out.
