In one year, Core 2019 will be released in paper magic. Assuming this game hasn’t crashed and burned, do you think that will mean MTGPQ’s core set will now rotate out at that time? Because I wouldn’t want it to, I think it’ll be nice to have a base set of cards to rely on.
I tend to hope so… I question the value of a base set in the first place. Do we really have to play against Gaea’s Revenge and TSN in every standard format for the rest of time? Yeah, I know… I don’t own them.
Anyway, if they print plenty of good commons and uncommons in the new set, and the idea is many cards will be somewhat stable in the core set going forward, I think they should figure out how to make the card pool as similar to MTG paper as possible. They should also introduce legacy, extended, modern, etc events.
Depends how much leeway they have, but I’m definitely wary. The good news is that you’d still get a year out of any Origins packs you invest in.
I’d have thought it would, core sets have always rotated in Standard in paper, whether they are made up of reprints like the early editions, or mostly new cards like the later ones.
well, they had planned to stop doing core sets. then changed their minds.
