Man-Thing's Moment of Thought, and potentially all "permanent" damage

When attacked, Man-Thing sets his enemies ablaze, dealing XXX damage, and YYY permanent damage.

It appears characters cannot be downed by permanent damage, because I’m seeing this happen with some frequency…

Man-Thing should be a counter to characters like iHulk and Chasm, but not if his “permanent” damage leaves them with 1 point of health. Purple Man ate the “permanent” damage after reflecting the initial hit to his ally (downing them), but this “permanent” damage only reduced him to one point of health.

edit And again this is NOT a Purple Man issue, I’m seeing this happen where one character is downed by the regular damage, and the next character is hit with only the “permanent” damage, and they’re always left with 1 point of health.

If I can find someone still running an iHulk team (there’s got to be Nova & iHulk teams out there) I’ll take them on and test this, and see if iHulk respawns with a single point of health. He may continue to revive with his normal health because the regular damage may down first before the “permanent” damage can be applied.

Unless maybe iHulk gets downed from the regular damage, revives, and then the “permanent” damage hits him  Let’s see if we can find an iHulk team…in the haystack of Chasm, M’Baku & Namor teams.

Nope, no luck. If it wasn’t Chasm, M’Baku & Namor, it was Juggs & Capt. Sam, with Chasm or Nova.

I found a couple of seals, but with Refreshment Cart, and Hawkeye being “fixed”, everyone is using only those few characters.

Great job “fixing” your game, Devs!

I was finally able to find a Nova & iHulk team, and while Nova was airborne iHulk would eat the regular damage, go down, and then revive with his “full” health…but would not take any permanent damage.

Or if he was taking permanent damage, its status was being cleared when he was downed because he revived every single time with his “full” health.

“Full” as per “What Does Kill Me”.

I see no one noticed this or bothered with a reply. The issue with iHulk is the revive mechanic never stops (barring using an anti-revive support or character or power). If Perm dmg pushed him to zero health he would enter an endless loop where his perm dmg was 0, he would revive, die, revive, die, times infinity.

I assume there was no way to push only iHulk to 1 health with perm dmg, so the devs hardcoded perm dmg to always leave everyone with 1 health to work around this issue and not crash the game and/or force you into a retreat when iHulk appears.

Who knows if the new guys can figure out a way to address this better.

When I was fighting iHulk and Nova, I never saw Hulk get reduced to 1 point of health at any time, but he was potentially dying (then reviving) too fast for me to see that.

Permanent damage should be able to down enemies, and enemies like iHulk that are reduced to 0 health should not be able to self-revive…

Or be revived. I am staunchly Team Cap, but even Beard Cap (IW) should not be able to revive an ally downed from “permanent” damage.

But this is undoubtedly asking wa-a-a-ay too much from the Devs.
